Maintenance Technician (Job Number: 017783W-01)

As the Maintenance Technician, you will regularly perform mechanical maintenance of field and plant equipment and facilities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • May assist with some electrical maintenance work

  • Provides back-up on other plant and field activities as needed. Ensures both quality standards and timelines are met

  • Must maintain focus and attention to details to ensure accuracy yet always work toward maximizing productivity without negatively impacting accuracy

  • Must minimize or eliminate contamination and support trace ability objectives

  • Maintain compliance with Quality Plan standards, ISO instructions, safety programs and policies, company/department/location policies and legal requirements

  • Helps organize and plan ahead, including conducting seasonal prep work to get enough labor, prepare equipment, schedule materials, etc.

  • Assures proper set-up, calibration, operation, and maintenance of equipment, machines, and facilities


The following are required:

  • One to three (1-3) years of mechanical maintenance work

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Committed to maintaining high safety and work standards

  • Knowledge of engine and hydraulic repair and test equipment

  • Willing and able to work in a variety of areas (field, plant, warehouse)

  • Willing and able to climb and/or work in elevated areas; standing and sitting for extended periods

  • Willing and able to work both outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet and dry conditions

  • Willing and able to lift up to 60 lbs. and complete work that involves repetitive motion and/or repetitive lifting

  • Position has potential exposure to hazards such as electric shock or moving parts

  • Willingness and ability to work overtime hours including weekend work required during seasonal peaks

  • Shift work required

  • May require occasional travel

  • Driver’s license

The following are preferred:

  • Knowledge of production agriculture and associated machinery needed

  • Basic level of building electrical systems knowledge

  • Knowledge of heating/cooling, refrigeration, security, materials handling equipment (i.e., conveyors, elevator legs, packaging equipment, etc.) or other mechanical/electrical systems

  • Ability to read and interpret parts and shop manuals

  • Technical problem solving skills; skill in troubleshooting mechanical problems in a systematic manner and able to quickly determine maintenance or repair needed

  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Able to adjust quickly to changing conditions and multiple priorities

  • Organized with continuous improvement orientation

  • Training/coaching skills

  • Detail oriented

  • Knowledge of telephone systems

  • Good PC skills

  • Millwright skills

  • Truck and forklift driving skills

  • Experience with preventative maintenance

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles such as 5S, Continuous Improvement and Standardized Work are a plus
