Scope of Responsibility : Responsible for Electrical Engineering and Electrical Safety as a subject matter expert for DuPont Crop Protection’s El Paso Manufacturing Site, El Paso, Illinois and Valdosta Manufacturing Site, Valdosta Georgia.

Location : DuPont Crop Protection’s El Paso Manufacturing Site, El Paso, Illinois or DuPont Crop Protection’s Valdosta Manufacturing Site, Valdosta Georgia.

Electrical Engineer Job Responsibilities :

Maintain all site electrical systems in accordance with applicable codes and regulations. Lead initiatives to implement improvements in electrical infrastructure in compliance with safety standards and PSM recommendations. Provide guidance for all aspects of site electrical safety including design, installation, maintenance, auditing, test& inspection, safety analysis and trouble shooting. Provide first line of support for trouble shooting, and resources all aspects of process hazards analyses as it relates to site electrical systems. Provide consultation for capital improvements as they relate to or impact site electrical systems. Electrical Subject Matter expert for all aspects of the electrical systems and site electrical infrastructure at both the Valdosta and El Paso manufacturing sites.

Electrical Engineer Job Duties:

  • Inspect, maintain, observe and troubleshoot existing installations to ensure conformance to design & equipment specifications and compliance with established safety standards.

  • Ensure electrical reference drawings are created and maintained through PSM change management processes. Reference drawings include: Elevation & Single Line Diagrams, Motor Schematics, Panel Schedules, Control logic diagrams, Instrument Loop diagrams, and area Electrical Classification drawings.

  • Develop and provide oversight for the site electrical Test and Inspection program in accordance with established safety standards and RAGAGEP.

  • Maintain site Arc Flash ratings and coordinate documentation/drawings with assistance from DuET experts.

  • Confer with engineers, safety resources, and technical experts in support of Process Safety Management efforts, including: completion of Process Hazards Analyses, completion of Layer of Protection Analyses, and implementation of actions to address PSM recommendations.

  • Provide direction, oversight and quality assurance for work performed by craftspeople and electrical contractors.

  • Provide training to both qualified and unqualified personnel on Electrical Safety and provide training on Safe Work Practices with the potential for shock, arc flash and electrical fire hazards.

  • Confirm system's and components' capabilities by designing testing methods; testing properties.

  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

  • Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests.

  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.

  • Promote equipment reliability & operational availability by following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting repair service.

  • Complete or leads projects or initiatives related to electrical safety

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.


Minimum Requirement : B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering with 5 – 10 years of industrial experience in Chemical Plant Operations or equivalent.

Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required. At least 5 years of experience in an industrial environment providing electrical systems support for systems and facilities operated at 600VAC or less. Familiarity with power distribution systems operated at 4160VAC, step-down transformers, switch gear, etc. Experience in electrical systems testing and design and project management. Demonstrated capability to perform data analysis, report results, and deliver results with excellence.
