DuPont is currently seeking an Research Associate to join our Controlled Environments Department. The Research Associate contributes to Controlled Environment (CE) team activities related to crop production to assure targets are met and provide effective support for gene discovery and product development work. The employee contributes to most areas related to greenhouse crop production including controlled pollinations and specialized plant care for all crops. Special focus of this position will be on supporting and collaborating with Pioneer’s internal research partners in support of soybean bioassay projects and enabling technologies. Effective and frequent communication with multiple stakeholders is required. In addition, this position may manage additional crop requests, assist colleagues in daily greenhouse tasks and contribute to data quality management.

  • Developand communicate planting requests, planting schedules, sampling, pollinations,harvest, seed inventory management, and seed shipment with the focus ondiscovery research in soybean projects initiated within the EnablingTechnologies group at Pioneer. Lead the day-to-day duties associated with year-roundgreenhouse production of high quality and quantities of soybean as well as managing data quality and associated reports.

  • Perform in a liaison role between EnablingTechnology and Controlled Environments. Anticipate bottle necks around the scope of the entire project while inControlled Environments. Show agilityand be able to change as research focus or deadlines change. Communicate effectively to researchers,managers and technical leads within Enabling Technologies and ControlledEnvironments.

  • Thisposition may assist or contributeto otherareas related to greenhousecrop production and support of other CE liaisons to help assure targets are metand effective support is provided for gene discovery and product developmentwork. Assisting in daily plantcare and sampling while maintaining a clean and safe work environment while meetingall compliance standards is expected.


  • Masters or Bachelors degree in an agriculture, horticulture, plant physiology, or relatedfield or three or more years of related experience or equivalent amounts ofrelevant education and experience is preferred.

  • Aminimum of two yearsof field or greenhouse experience in plant growth and development is preferred.Familiarity with plant biotechnology and transformation would be ideal.

  • Experience managing research projects is beneficialas would a proven record of working in a fast paced environment highlightingyour ability to manage multiple varying projects of scope and size.

  • Excellentcommunication skills, a high degree of self-motivation, possess a positiveattitude and work well independently as well as a team member with minimalsupervision.

  • Otherqualifications are the ability to meet deadlines, attention to detail, a provenability to succeed in a team environment, and solid computer skills.

  • Maybe required to do physical lifting and work in varying ergonomic environments.You will be exposed to extremes of heat andhumidity in a greenhouse environment.

  • This positionrequires the ability to work on weekendsand holidays on a rotating schedule.
