The successful incumbent will lead the sales effort for Pioneer Brand products in an assigned district. Performs direct selling activities and demand creation as well as coach, teach and manage a team of sales professionals. Directly manages the assignment of customers and prospects to a sales representative. Provide leadership and vision for the distribution channel (reps, dealers) in the district. Administer NA Sales policies and programs to meet sales and profit goals for the district.
Duties & Responsibilities
Team Selling: Manage sales representative, dealer, and performance through the establishment, communication and clarification of expectations. Hold individuals accountable for meeting established performance standards.
Coach sales team to enhance selling activity, differentiate products and services and build relationships.
Calls on customers with reps. Serves as a role model, teacher and coach to sales reps demonstrating sales skills and customer responsiveness.
Identify customer and prospect opportunities and establish a plan to capitalize on these opportunities with sales reps, dealers. Direct Selling: Direct selling to assigned accounts which includes developing and maintaining the relationship, and servicing the account either personally or through an assigned point of sale (POS). Technical/Agronomic/Service
Maintain a thorough agronomic and technical knowledge of Pioneer products and services.
Trouble shoots some customer complaints and work to resolve them. Sales Force Development
Continually teach reps and dealers new and better ways to meet the needs of the customer.
Continually evaluate performance of individuals against standards and provide feedback that will enhance their sales performance.
Provide necessary skills and knowledge training to meet sales performance objectives.
Sales Planning/Territory Management
Recruit, select and retain a high quality professional sales force that can meet the needs of customers.
Manage assigned account responsibility (AAR) at the sales rep level, focusing customer by customer.
Sets sales targets and tactical plans with each sales rep for assigned customers and prospects.
Customer and prospect management – working with Area Sales Manager on territory management.
Directly manages AAR with guidance from the ASM.
Determines and manages the number of sales points in the district, with guidance from the ASM.
Other Management Functions
Understand customer needs and provide feedback to organization on product performance, program effectiveness and competitive activity. Suggest improvements or alternative tactics to help achieve district and area goals.
Continue to develop professionally by remaining current with new technologies, management innovations and sales management developments.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE
Education – Bachelor’s degree in Ag-business, Agronomy, Business, Marketing or related area or equivalent sales management experience.
Experience – 5 - 8 years, experience in Ag marketing, sales or sales management.
Demonstrated knowledge of:
Selling methodology and technique.
Pioneer products and services.
Marketing tools and techniques.
DuPont product offerings in relation to seed.
Competitive product/service offerings; local agricultural markets; value chain and crop production practices.
Environmental, regulatory, and stewardship requirements for the various technology products.
Company policies and procedures.
Demonstrated skills in:
- Selling, negotiating, influencing, conflict resolution, handling objections and coaching.
Using computer hardware software/intranet to generate reports, territory plans, inventory data, access PHI info and complete administrative duties.
Demonstrated ability to:
Build/maintain strong relationships with customers, key industry/market influencers, PHI & internal DuPont partners and teammates.
Work effectively within a team environment.
Lead and influence teams/projects and coach individuals in accomplishing defined objectives/goals.
Understands the needs and values of partners and customers and to develop solutions to satisfy/retain.
Get results by taking initiative, overcoming obstacles & finding creative solutions.
Work independently with minimum supervision and operate within budget.
