D uPont Industrial Biosciences is looking for a talented and motivated individual to join our Nevada, Iowa manufacturing team as our Reliability Engineer. DuPont Industrial Biosciences comprises an unmatched portfolio of capabilities in industrial biotechnology and bio-based solutions.

In this role, you will provide reliability engineering technical expertise to all plant areas and include process equipment performance monitoring and investigation/correction of equipment issues. You will be responsible for implementing reliability methodologies such as RBI (Risk Based Inspections), RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance), FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis), UpBase, and other reliability-based maintenance engineering principles and practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Carries out reliability studies on existing equipment and recommends improvements to Operations manage in the areas of equipment philosophies, strategies and best practices for asset productivity

  • Leads reliability improvement projects and programs aligned with corporate best practices. This position focuses on improving equipment performance versus sustaining or returning it to current performance standards

  • Leads Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and develops corrective actions for complex and/or repetitive problems.

  • Supports capital projects by supplying engineering expertise in the specification, design and construction of capital projects in accordance with plant design requirements, as well as regulatory and company standards

  • Assists in the identification and set-up of spare parts along with PM lists for new equipment

  • Leads in reliability related incident investigations including prioritization of action items and follow-up on implementation.

  • Ensure lessons learned, best practices, and action items from reliability incidents are communicated both internally to the site and externally to other sites and incorporated in the design of new projects and new technical specifications.

  • Actively promotes a “reliability culture” within plant organizations and systems

  • Develops and implements equipment asset plans using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), FMEA+, Risk Based Inspections (RBI) and other reliability techniques.

  • Applies engineering theory, practices, and principles to perform physical failure analysis, assists in determining root cause of equipment failures and conducts equipment performance evaluations

  • Analyze equipment trends, historical data, and field data to recommend and justify improvements to obtain lowest life cycle cost on different classes of equipment.

  • Participates in PSM activities as defined by site manuals and practices, mainly focused in mechanical integrity (MI) and quality assurance (QA).

  • Participates as a member of mechanical turn-around/shutdown teams providing input into needed equipment inspection and repair procedures.

  • Participates in maintenance and reliability networks and share best practices, successes and failures.

  • Provide general Mechanical Engineering expertise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering is required

  • Minimum of 2 years of mechanical engineering work experience and training is preferred

  • Basic understanding of the principles of:

  • centrifugal pumps, mechanical seals, agitators, valves, and sanitary systems

  • Data analysis techniques and statistical interpretation skills

  • Rotating equipment and alignment techniques

  • Basic Materials Science including material selection and properties

  • Lubrication, tribology, and fundamentals of interpreting oil analysis results

  • Vibration analysis and interpretation of vibration analysis reports

  • Fundamentals of nondestructive testing

  • Equipment Life Cycle Cost Analysis

  • Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)

  • Engineering design standards and their application

  • Process Safety Management
