Industrial Pipefitter/Millwright (Job Number: 013401W-01)


DuPont’s Parlin NJ Site is seeking an experienced Industrial Pipefitter for their manufacturing operations.

Overall Function:

To support the research team by fabricating, installing and repairing piping and tubing systems used in research operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Receives instructions, prints, and work orders for the job. Plans details of working procedure and makes lists of required tools and materials.

  • Fabricates and installs piping/tubing systems for a variety of operations including building/site steam and condensate, air and nitrogen supplies, RO/DI water, low and high pressure reactor systems, cylinder gas manifolds and delivery systems, etc.

  • Performs quality assurance self-inspections to insure work is within specifications and tolerances.

  • Works directly with facility engineer, construction manager and/or planner to offer suggestions on potential equipment design or fabrication technique improvements.

  • Installs and maintains various pipe systems. Water, steam, air, chemical supply and process piping.

  • Works at heights in a boom or scissor type lifts.

  • Cuts or drills holes in walls for passage of pipes using coring tools

  • Cuts, threads, and deburrs pipe with hand and powered threading machines. Works with black iron pipe and stainless steel.

  • Works with copper and stainless tubing, bending and fabricating as needed.

  • Solder and braze copper fittings on refrigeration or water lines.

  • Secures piping with hangers, clamps and brackets to concrete or structural steel

  • Read blueprints/schematics/piping and instrumentation diagrams

  • Perform a variety of duties which may change often

  • Assists in the implementations and improvement of effective preventive maintenance programs for all equipment, performing scheduled maintenance on facilities and production equipment as required

  • Interprets isometric drawings, P&IDs, schematics and equipment drawings related to pumps, valves, agitators, motors, chillers, air compressors and boilers.

  • Problem solve, root cause analysis, system design & construction

  • Data tracking & entry in SAP (labor hours, parts, detailed comments)

  • Perform a variety of duties which may change often

  • Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.

  • Dismantle machinery or equipment using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools.

  • Moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers and fork trucks.

  • Assembles and installs equipment such as shafting, conveyors and tram rails.

  • Maintain all plant equipment such as valves, pumps, agitators, fans, conveyors, pipework, heat exchangers and tanks.

  • Assist in the implementations and improvement of preventive maintenance programs for all equipment.

  • Maintain typical utility systems.

  • Utilize advanced maintenance equipment including laser alignment and condition monitoring devices such as vibration analysis, ultrasound analysis and thermography.

  • Maintain parts inventory and order all necessary maintenance materials.



  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED. Technical school training is preferred.

  • Journeyman Millwright/Pipe Fitter or similar Certification

  • Must have at least three to five years of hands on work experience as an Industrial Pipefitter/Millwright

  • Must be familiar with pumps, gearboxes, and other industrial process equipment.

  • Must be familiar with high and low pressure piping and pipe code specs.

  • Must be willing to wear personable protective gear including respirators.

  • Must be able to pass a respirator fit test.

  • Must be willing to climb stairs, ladders and work at heights.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

  • Must be willing to work in confined spaces.

  • Requires project planning and coordination skills and Technical problem diagnosis skills.
