Senior Accounting Benefits Specialist (Job Number: 016206W-01)


The Senior Accounting Benefits Specialist

  • Analyzes and resolve complex benefit plan accounting and reporting issues, including interpreting external technical accounting pronouncements.

  • Assists in directing company implementation of new accounting and reporting requirements, including adoption of Accounting Standards Update 2017-07.

  • Acts as resource to corporate accounting and actuarial teams.

  • Identify and initiate process improvements for increased productivity

  • Analyze and develop complex multi-legal entity journal entries, including reporting tools for footnote responsibilities


  • Coordination and review of all accounting entries for U.S. & foreign benefit plans

  • Point of contact for benefit plan accounting related issues (Mergers, Spin-offs, Carve, etc.)

  • Reconcile all benefit plan balance sheet and income statement accounts on a quarterly basis

  • Preparation of select quarterly and annual footnotes, including fair value measurement table

  • Oversight and preparation of monthly and quarterly SOX controls

  • Preparation of pension plan financial statements which includes coordination with State Street as well as various departments internally, including HR-Benefits and DuPont Capital Management

  • Review of and reconciliation to Department of Labor Form 5500

  • Management and oversight of external audit process for Form 5500 and select footnote data



  • BS Accounting/Finance

  • CPA required

  • Thorough understanding of US GAAP and SEC Reporting

  • 3+ years of experience with Big 4 or industry related experience

  • Strong oral and written skills

  • Self-directed and accountable

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks

  • Works well in teams with an ability to interact at all levels of the organization
