Senior Electrical Engineer (Job Number: 015720W-01)


An Electrical Engineer is needed to provide consulting services in support of design, startup, and maintenance of electrical systems/equipment as needed throughout DuPont. This includes technical support to plant operations as well as for capital projects. Typical areas of technology include switchgear, distribution transformers, protective relays, M otor C ontrol C enters, motors, A djustable S peed D rives, electrical heating including heat tracing, and lighting.

The Electrical Engineer will network with DuPont resources and cross-functional teams to achieve timely solutions to business problems.

The successful candidate will have a strong electrical engineering background and the ability to use these fundamental skills to specify equipment per regulatory compliance and solve problems related to equipment performance and reliability. He/she should have a working knowledge of all aspects of electrical design including but not limited to:

  • Application of Codes, Standards, & Regulations

  • Area Classification

  • Cable Routing

  • Ability to read drawings

  • Utility interface


Educational Qualifications: BS or MS in Electrical Engineering. Candidates with an equivalent degree in Electronics Engineering who have demonstrated electrical system proficiency and who meet the remaining skills/experience requirements will also be considered.

Experience and other requirements:

  • 10 or more years of experience in the Chemical Process or related industries with the working knowledge of electrical equipment

  • Intimate knowledge in applying electrical Codes, Standards, & Regulations (NEC, NFPA, UL, FM, etc.)

  • Knowledge of related plant operational practices such as Process Safety Management and MIQA

  • Statistical Engineering – Six Sigma analysis

  • Familiarity with SKM’s Electrical System Analysis software

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to plan, prioritize, and implement multiple concurrent projects or activities

  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, self-motivated, and able to function independent of supervision

  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to evaluate existing electrical equipment and utilize engineering design processes to improve their accuracy, reliability, and calibration needs

  • Ability to plan and direct E&I personnel during startup of manufacturing facilities; coordinate E&I field activities to troubleshoot and correct.
