Corteva Agriscience™, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont™ has an exciting opportunity for a General Mechanic to join our team in Algona, IA. We're currently offering a $3,000 sign-on bonus to join our organization and we offer an excellent benefits package that begins on your first day of employment. As the General Mechanic, you will regularly perform mechanical maintenance of field and plant equipment and facilities. In addition, this role includes a $3,000 sign-on bonus!

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • May assist with some electricalmaintenance work

  • Provides back-up on other plantand field activities as needed. Ensures both quality standards andtimelines are met

  • Must maintain focus andattention to details to ensure accuracy yet always work toward maximizingproductivity without negatively impacting accuracy

  • Must minimize or eliminatecontamination and support trace ability objectives

  • Maintain compliance withQuality Plan standards, ISO instructions, safety programs and policies,company/department/location policies and legal requirements

  • Helps organize and plan ahead,including conducting seasonal prep work to get enough labor, prepare equipment,schedule materials, etc.

  • Assures proper set-up,calibration, operation, and maintenance of equipment, machines, andfacilities

Qualifications

The following are required:

  • One to three (1-3) years ofmechanical maintenance work

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Committed to maintaining highsafety and work standards

  • Knowledge of engine andhydraulic repair and test equipment

  • Willing and able to work in avariety of areas (field, plant, warehouse)

  • Willing and able to climband/or work in elevated areas; standing and sitting for extended periods

  • Willing and able to work bothoutdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet and dry conditions

  • Willing and able to lift up to60 lbs. and complete work that involves repetitive motion and/orrepetitive lifting

  • Position has potential exposureto hazards such as electric shock or moving parts

  • Willingness and ability to workovertime hours including weekend work required during seasonal peaks

  • Rotating shift work requiredthat includes days, nights, and weekends

  • May require occasional travel

  • Driver’s license

The following are preferred:

  • Knowledge of productionagriculture and associated machinery needed

  • Basic level of buildingelectrical systems knowledge

  • Knowledge of heating/cooling,refrigeration, security, materials handling equipment (i.e., conveyors,elevator legs, packaging equipment, etc.) or other mechanical/electricalsystems

  • Ability to read and interpretparts and shop manuals

  • Technical problem solvingskills; skill in troubleshooting mechanical problems in a systematicmanner and able to quickly determine maintenance or repair needed

  • Good verbal, written, andinterpersonal communication skills

  • Able to adjust quickly tochanging conditions and multiple priorities

  • Organized with continuousimprovement orientation

  • Training/coaching skills

  • Detail oriented

  • Knowledge of telephone systems

  • Good PC skills

  • Millwright, welding, and/orfabrication skills

  • Truck and forklift drivingskills

  • Experience with preventativemaintenance

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturingprinciples such as 5S, Continuous Improvement and Standardized Work are aplus
