The main role of the Quality Control Technologist is to ensure that products produced in the plant are safe for human consumption and are of acceptable quality standards.

Operational Deliverables:

Oversee lab Technician duties and support as required, including:

o Conduct basic tests in QC lab

o Perform Test bake QC tests

o Perform viscosity QC tests

o Conduct internal calibrations, and check weight results

o Assist in SAP results recording and releasing of materials

o Review of production sheets and weight deviations

o Assist with all SAP related quality transactions

o Assist with non-conformances including handling of rejected materials

o Release restricted material on SAP for rework use

o Manage retention samples

o Monitoring of cleaning efficacy in the production plant (for micro-organisms and allergens), feedback to production team

o Evaluate incoming raw materials

o Liaise with companies for external sample testing; follow ups, receiving and analyzing reports, results recordings, usage decisions and feedback to production team.

o Performing internal housekeeping audits, completing required documentation

o Equipment and reagent management in QC laboratory

• Conduct Internal Audits in integrated management system

• Assisting in solving the day to day trouble shootings within the laboratory

• Assisting in solving day to day trouble shooting within the factory

• Liaise with production team, communicating possible improvements and follow up

• Performing Food safety operations audits, completing required documentation

• Manage Hygiene system and activities of Hygiene team

• Manage Pest Control

• Manage QC online's

• Liaise with Innovation regarding NCA alerts

• Initiate and investigation of upliftments and recalls

• Compile and verify QC test methods

• Maintenance and creation of QM material master and Inspection Plans on SAP

• Food Safety Team Member

• Control of non-conformances including handling of rejected materials

• Manage Customer complaints

• Staff training and assessments

Responsibility and authority:

Make quality related decisions in production

Food Safety responsibility:

Adhere to all Food Safety requirements in terms of Personnel practices and Hygiene

Follow all handling, storage and processing instruction as per best practices to avoid contamination or deterioration of materials.

Operational safety requirements:

Adhere to all safety instructions and signage

Conduct all operations in a safe manner as per operational procedures

Participate in all safety and emergency drills

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Food Technology Qualification

  • Computer literacy: Microsoft word, Excel, Power point presentation.

  • Min 5 years experience in Food manufacture QC/QA environment

  • Internal auditor qualification advantageous

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Good communication skills – written and spoken

  • Understanding of FSSC or similar management system

  • Good organisational skills
