The Kapton® film manufacturing business is seeking a Production / Process Engineer at the site in Circleville, Ohio. The Circleville site is one of three primary manufacturing locations that produces Kapton® polyimide film. Kapton® is part of the Interconnect Solutions business unit, which is part of the Electronics and Imaging platform, within DuPont. Electronics and Imaging is comprised of five high growth global businesses supplying a broad array of materials to multiple consumer electronics and industrial sectors. The Kapton® facilities consist of polymer manufacturing, film casting, and numerous converting operations such as coating, heat treatment, and extensive slitting. The Circleville site also manufactures Tedlar® film, Teflon® film and Vespel® resin.
The role provides technical expertise and strategic direction to improve our competitive advantage for the Kapton® casting manufacturing area. The Production / Process Engineer is recognized as a leader and expert in that technology and leads teams to upgrade processes and products that may range from incremental improvements to major technology changes. A primary focus is to develop improved process instrumentation and control strategies, process safety, yield, quality, plant capacity and uptime performance. This role will mentor other technical personnel and may serve in a Process Safety Management critical role.

Small team leader (with Technologists, Reliability Engineers and Continuous Improvement Engineers) to prioritize, coordinate and execute efforts for the assets of responsibility
Develops the 5-year Technology Plan and coordinates the tactical execution of the initiatives within the plan
Identifies best practices for processes and works with technical personnel to develop them
Provides technical oversight of ongoing production
Accountable for oversight of the reliability programs for the assigned assets
Enables and assists in the training of operators, mechanics and other technical team members to convey the “why” of the fundamentals
Drives product by process through development and documentation of manufacturing standard process
Design process improvements (yield, quality, uptime, capacity release)
Implements large programs and/or process improvements
Leads troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex issues
Drives/leads Lean Manufacturing process
Participates in the PACE/Improvement Process for development prior to scale-up of new products.
Leads the efforts in the scale-up of new R&D products to the production assets
Responsible to ensure adequate basic data is created for CapEx projects and provides resourcing support (e.g. development and/or Plans for Commissioning, Decommissioning, Start-Up and Shut Down)
Leads PSM Technology Elements (Process Technology, PHA, Management of Change-Technology)
Leads in the qualification of new raw materials
Responsible for the qualification of new equipment
Networks and leverages the broader organization (CCAS, DuET, R&D, Marketing, etc.)
Utilizes product management skills in the execution of programs and/or process improvements.
Participates in global initiative(s) in area of expertise
Technical Degree (BS, MS, or PhD) in Engineering, preferably Chemical or Mechanical
A minimum of 5 years industrial plant experience with exposure to PSM (Process Safety Management) systems. Co-Op/Internship experience will be considered.
Six Sigma Green Belt Certification (minimum); Black Belt Certification (preferred)
Experience with industrial chemical, polymer and/or film manufacturing processes
Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to diagnose, troubleshoot, solve or help others solve equipment and/or process issues.
Demonstrated knowledge of key PSM Technology elements such as Process Hazards Analysis, Process Technology, Management of Change -Technology, RAGAGEP among others
Demonstrated ability to teach, coach, mentor, develop others, and work in a team based environment
Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects
Demonstrated skill in leadership, team building and achieving results through influence and negotiation
Good interpersonal and communication skills; must work well in both self-managed and team environment
Ability to access and network with appropriate site and corporate teams to gain or share knowledge
