Position and Scope:

The DuPont Transportation and Advanced Polymers (T&AP) platform is seeking a Project Engineer – Minor Team Leader (MTL) at the Circleville, Ohio site.

As the pioneer of polymer science with a legacy of innovation, the T&AP team uses its world-class expertise across multiple polymer platforms to integrate cutting-edge science, design, manufacturing excellence, and processing technology to give shape to smarter ideas for today and tomorrow. The Vespel® business is a profitable, growing business servicing challenging applications in aerospace, chemicals, and a variety of industries. The Circleville site also manufactures Kapton®, Tedlar®, and Teflon® film.

The site is located approximately 30 miles south of Columbus, OH. This proximity to Columbus allows either urban or rural living; great for families and single living. The area offers many museums and arts-scene experiences, professional and collegiate sports, and has several highly ranked golf courses and state parks for the outdoor enthusiast.

The Project Engineer is responsible for working with leadership, technology, maintenance, operations, and engineering, for implementation of minor capital projects and status reporting. This position will coordinate with the site engineering team for optimum utilization of resources, including design, and compliance with all project systems and work processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate the minor capital projects planning process to generate a clearly defined prioritized list of jobs for implementation.

  • Ensure satisfactory basic data is provided in the Minor Project Request (MPR) form before releasing the job to the site design team for scheduling.

  • Reconcile business priorities with design resource availability and budget expectations to meet the business needs.

  • Lead routine meetings to report on overall minor capital projects status to area leadership. Include a concise review of the current status of all minor projects and a summary of performance metrics (supplemental rate, cycle time, actual expenditures vs. budget, etc.) and lead follow-up efforts to address any system performance issues identified during the reviews.

  • Manage the minor project budget and forecasts capital and CAWC expenditures, in accordance with business engineering’s direction.

  • Participate in minor capital projects process improvement initiatives. Facilitate the overall process and address design issues that impede success.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and priority to designers. Provide feedback to Contractor site management and site engineering leadership regarding effectiveness of site team personnel.

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of Project Quality Plans, including auditing work processes and deliverables for compliance, and for meeting agreed upon project quality requirements and expectations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Technical degree (BS, MS) in Engineering; Chemical or Mechanical preferred.

Preferred Skills and Experience :

  • Industrial plant experience with exposure to Process Safety Management (PSM) systems.

  • Strong leadership skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a changing environment to meet challenging business needs.

  • Understanding of the DuPont project process and best practices is a plus.

  • Good organization, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Computer skills including Excel.

  • Experience managing projects

  • Experience with SAP/R3 PS, Documentum, SOX project reconciliation, MS Project, 3D Modeling Software and ICARUS a plus.
