As the PLC Programmer/Automation Coordinator, you will work with the Location Maintenance Team to maintain the local Process control network, programming standards, and propose new equipment for the location. You will be challenged with duties and responsibilities that will evolve throughout the year. The Dysart facility traditionally runs corn drying 24/7 through harvest (September-October) and corn receiving, husk/sort, and shelling on one shift along with soybean harvest receiving. The plant will operate 24/5 during conditioning season (October – March) then stagers down to one shift over the remainder of the spring and summer months. Required on-call work to ensure processes are running will apply to this role. Our scheduling allows for a much better work-life balance for employees than typical widget manufacturing with 24/7 operations does.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain integrity of the PLC automation servers andPLC processors at location

  • Troubleshoot and modify ladder logic programs on AllenBradley processors using RSLogix 500 and 5000 software

  • Understand the strategy for the Process Control Networkoperating production locations and is accountable for the implementationof the strategy at the local level

  • Lead and foster the safety culture with team members,and drive maintenance and reliability of the process control network

  • Develop a strategy for PLC automation support for thelocation which includes training of operators

  • Assist in the development, installation, inspection andmaintenance of new or enhanced mechanical and/or electrical equipment

  • Preventative maintenance conducted on field or facilityequipment/machinery or vehicles

  • Estimate labor and equipment costs, maintainappropriate maintenance, inventory and repair logs

  • May lead others in maintenance or oversee certainprogram, processes or projects

  • May be responsible for supporting mechanical projectsthroughout the plant

Qualifications

Thefollowing are required:

  • Two-year technical / vocational degree in IndustrialTechnology with PLC automation and three years of related PLC Automationexperience

  • Previous HMI graphical interface programming experienceusing Allen-Bradley FTVSE\FTVME and PanelBuilder32 Software

  • Previous experience programming PLC ladder logic

  • Previous electrical experience voltages ranging from24v to 480v 3 phase

  • Willing and able to work in a variety of areas (field,plant, warehouse)

  • Willing and able to climb and/or work in elevatedareas; standing and sitting for extended periods

  • Willing and able to work both outdoors and indoors inhot, cold, wet and dry conditions

  • Willing and able to lift up to 50 lbs. and completework that involves repetitive motion and/or repetitive lifting

  • Willing and able to work overtime hours includingweekend work and to be on call for operations

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Problem solving skills, conflict resolution skills, andteamwork skills

  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonalcommunication skills

  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office

  • Understanding/experience with Allen Bradley

  • Willing to complete additional training if necessary

Thefollowing are preferred:

  • Previous HMI programming experience primarily withAllen Bradley Factory Talk Studio

  • Previous experience programming ladder logic with AllenBradley logix 500 and logix 5000

  • Knowledge of electrical panels and electricaltroubleshooting

  • Advanced degree in related field

  • Ability to read blue prints

  • Ability to obtain professional certifications

  • Training/coaching skills

  • Project management skills
