Corteva Agriscience™, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Laboratory Technician to join our herbicide production facility in El Paso, IL. The El Paso, Illinois site manufactures herbicide products for the Crop Protection platform of the Ag Division within DowDupont. The site of 120 employees manufactures many diverse products and is a key formulation and packaging facility within the new Ag Division. The site is located within 20 miles of Bloomington and Normal, Illinois. This is the location of several colleges and provides a thriving hub of activity. It is also within a 2 hour drive of Chicago. In this role, you will be critical to our operations as you perform sampling and testing procedures to ensure we deliver top-quality products to our customers. There are multiple shifts available for this role.

Typical duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Uphold company and site policies andCore Values – safety, health and environment, respectful treatment ofpeople, ethics

  • Perform all tasks in a safe mannerincluding handling of highly toxic/corrosive materials in small quantities

  • Run and interpret physical andanalytical tests for all products, including usage of HPLC and Mass Spectroscopy

  • Maintain highest level of housekeeping(5S) at all times

  • Perform preventative maintenance andrepair instruments when necessary

  • Enter data into the LIMS computersystem and input releases in SAP

  • Perform all job tasks that supportrunning the test methods. (Cleaning glassware, making solutions, usingexcel spreadsheets, etc.)

  • Participate in and lead team andsafety meetings

  • Maintain a high level of communicationwith the lab team and plant through e-mail, face to face interface, visualboards, etc.

  • Assist in the training of new labtechnicians

  • Write or modify procedures and formsas appropriate

  • Assist in setting up new equipment andtest methods

  • Attend outside classes to keep upskills/training

  • Perform calibrations and controlcharting according to ISO Standards

  • Assist in development of trace testingmethods

  • Acquire new skills as new analyticaltest equipment is obtained

  • Inventory and order supplies


The following are required:

  • Associates Degree in Science(Chemistry preferred)

  • 1-2 years of analyticalchemistry, analyzing solids, precision laboratory, or related experienceobtained through either work or academic studies experience

  • A basic understanding oreducation of High-Performance Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectroscopyseparation techniques

  • Computer literate and familiarwith basic computer programs (i.e. Microsoft Excel - formulas, emailsystems, Microsoft Word)

  • Demonstrated ability to balancemultiple, complex tasks with a high level of accuracy

  • Demonstrated ability totroubleshoot equipment issues, independently or through a team process

  • Demonstrated willingness tolearn new tasks, take on challenges and seek information from others

  • Strong mathematical skillsincluding algebra

  • Strong oral and writtencommunication skills to interact with peers and production personnel

  • Demonstrated ability to workwhile wearing personal protective equipment

  • Ability and willingness to workovertime when needed

  • Ability and willingness to workshift work

The following arepreferred:

  • BS Degree in Science (Chemistrypreferred) or related field

  • Experience in LiquidChromatograph and Mass Spectroscopy separation techniques
