Within the Transportation and Advanced Polymers (T&AP) organization in EMEA, we are looking to reinforce our team to support the DuPont™ Kalrez® and Vespel® product lines. These businesses focus on high-performance parts that provide sealing, wear and friction solutions in the transportation, aerospace, energy & material handling, and the electronics industries.

Within our EMEA technical team, we are currently seeking an

Application Engineer, Vespel® who’s main responsibilities can be summarized as follows:

  • Provide Technical Support (product and part design recommendations, material properties) to:

  • assigned customers and/or distributors in the region, with main focus on Transportation and Energy & Material Handling segments

  • Sales and Application Development groups for existing and new applications/customers

  • Operations, complaint handling process, and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) DuPont Team, if applies

  • Be the Technical focal point within defined account teams, support and contribute to the account plan.

  • Design prototypes parts for selected application, gathering inputs from customers and from the sales & marketing team

  • Perform part performance analysis and determine root cause. Define corrective actions and follow-up to completion

  • Conduct training seminars for distributors and customers

  • Lead/support technical programs at customers/distributors to achieve technical qualification for future commercialization

  • Lead/coordinate product evaluations, data generation programs, laboratory designed functional testing

  • Continuously develop expertise in end-use applications, to best support our customers

  • Prepare/contribute to product literature, sales tools and case stories for new and existing products

  • Write and publish technical papers/articles for selected conferences/tradeshows

  • Provide input to business and marketing strategy for industry segment

  • Continuously apply innovative approach to customer solutions/processes/ways of doing things

  • Compile, document, and communicate value-in-use information, competitive intelligence and related items to continuously improve our competitive advantage

  • Provide Technical Support to global and regional programs within the COE (Centers of Excellence) concept, if applies

  • Lead and/or contribute to product development programs, providing VOC (Voice Of the Customer), technical expertise, etc. as needed to develop new products and/or applications to meet customer needs, if applies



  • Master or Bachelor degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Advanced computer design. Tribology background or some experience in that area would be a plus.

  • Previous experience in a laboratory or technical environment

  • Experience with high performance materials, such as polyimides would be a plus.

  • Strong analytical skills with hands-on approach on lab equipment’s, closely collaborating with Laboratory Technicians.

  • Experience to design application testing equipment is a plus

  • Experience with Labview software or any other automation software would be a plus

  • Experience with Application Development would be a plus

  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software; Proficiency with Solidworks would be a plus; Experience with FEA and CFD is a plus

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Fluent in English and German is a must; French, Italian, or other languages would be a plus

  • Project management experience from defining the objective and scope, to follow-up of actions, reporting and sharing the results.

  • Proactivity, self-initiative, willing to learn, and self-develop.

  • Compliant with safety guidelines, business ethics and internal control processes

  • Results oriented with focus on customer

  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills for day-to-day job and customer interaction (external and internal)

  • Experience with external customers facing interaction or strong experience with internal customer

  • Willing to travel (25%).
