Product Technical Specialist, Delrin® (Job Number: TEC00001430)


DuPont Technical Service & Development (TS&D) have an opening for a Product Technical Specialist to work on their Delrin® Acetal product platform and application related technical matters within the market segment of Specialty Polymers in EMEA. The person will work with the TS&D department and Application Development, Marketing & Sales teams, Product Management, R&D teams, and external customers to develop new applications solve application related issues and provide technical support and training internally & externally.

Major tasks:

  • Responsibility for the Delrin® product line in relation to mechanical-physical characterization, processing recommendations, application relevant testing and collection of technical information

  • Providing data packages for product launches and conducting competitive surveys

  • Customer service in the context of part design, tool design, processing and prototyping

  • Conducting technical programs in collaboration with the Application Development & Marketing and Sales teams, and the European Technical Team

  • Identify productivity and quality improvement measures at the customer - observing, evaluating and validating technical trends and new process methods relevant for the processing of acetal resins

  • Lead new product developments in collaboration with R&D, Application Development, Marketing and Operations

  • Collaborate closely with customers on new products, new applications and technical matters

  • Flexibility to travel (30%) to customers and internal appointments

  • Location: European Technical Center, Geneva, Switzerland



  • University education in mechanical engineering or chemical engineering

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience of polymer related materials and their processing methods

  • Fluent in English, a working understanding of German would be beneficial

  • Ability to analyze, interpret and communicate technical matters

  • Basic knowledge of statistical methods and IT tools (MS-Windows), a 6 Sigma background will be an advantage

  • Proficiency in testing methodologies, polymer chemistry. Familiarity of CAE/process simulation tools would be a plus. i.e. Moldflow®

  • Ability to work independently and in teams, across functions/regions and with customers

  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal and self-managing skills

  • Experience with direct customer interactions is an asset

  • Good presentation skills, able to adapt the communication content to the target audience
