In the Production Technician role, you will perform a variety of tasks in a production plant and seed lab environment including setting up and monitoring highly automated equipment for various processes such as harvest, conditioning, treating, and packing, as well as processing samples and data entry. Duties and responsibilities will evolve throughout the year. Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:
Harvest activities such aspreparation, sorting, drying, etc.
Conditioning activities such assizing, gravity operation, bagging, palletizing, etc.
Return and rework activities
Field management activitiessuch as scouting, field maintenance
Warehousing activitiesincluding forklift operation, collecting samples, pooling, etc.
Gathering data for future aidin continuous improvement projects
Various other duties asassigned by supervisor
Compliance with ISO WorkInstructions and Quality Plan requirements
Meet demands in timely fashionwhile maintaining seed quality and supporting DuPont Production System andLEAN Manufacturing
Handling, testing, andsubmitting of samples for purity and germination quality and/orcertification
Process Order creation andclosing
Label/Tag creation for ProcessOrders
Creation of productionschedules
Handle a high volume andcomplexity of product (e.g. number of hybrids, customization)
Creation of shipping documentsand handling of inventory movements
Compliance with IA CropAssociation, or other regional Association procedures and protocol
The following arerequired:
High School diploma orequivalent (Associates degree or higher related to agriculturepreferred)
Willing and able to work in avariety of areas (field, plant, warehouse)
Willing and able to climband/or work in elevated areas; standing and sitting for extended periods
Willing and able to work bothoutdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet and dry conditions
Willing and able to work shiftwork and overtime hours including weekend work required
Willing and able to lift up to50 lbs. and complete work that involves repetitive motion and/orrepetitive lifting
The following arepreferred:
Two to three (2-3) years ofmanufacturing or Ag related experience
Knowledge of productionagriculture and production plant operations
Knowledge of lean manufacturingprinciples such as 5S, Continuous Improvement and Standard Work
Priority management skills
Ability to adjust quickly tochanging conditions and anticipate needs
Problem solving capabilities
Good teamwork skills
Good verbal and interpersonalcommunication skills
Good attention to detail with ahigh level of transactional excellence
Ability to make independentdecisions
Experience in EnterpriseSoftware such as SAP, Oracle or related software
Intermediate to high level ofcomputer skills including Microsoft Office and Excel
