Production First Line Supervisor (Job Number: 191907W-01)


The Shift Supervisor has direct leadership and performance accountability for the shift teams. This includes the safety, productivity, quality, efficiency, development and morale of the shift employees. The Shift Supervisor must exhibit a high standard for SHE, ethics, and respectful treatment of employees by his/her personal example. The Shift Supervisor also assures full compliance with all established SHE policies and procedures, and enforces accountability among all team members. The Shift Supervisor plans, directs, coordinates, and controls activities of workers engaged in casting and slitting film. The Shift Supervisor is the direct manager of approximately 25 wage roll employees in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work. Other responsibilities include appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Additionally, the Film Plant Supervisors have supervisory responsibility for the entire site when the supervisors for other areas are not on site (graveyards, weekends, holidays, etc.).

This position is on a rotating shift schedule.


Educational Attainment:

Minimum High School Diploma.

  • Operational Discipline – Operating Procedures, Safety Rules, Housekeeping, Workmanship, Clean Room Requirements, SOC Compliance, Recordkeeping, Following Standard Operating Procedures, Quality Test Schedules, Changeover Standards, Troubleshooting Procedures, etc.

  • Solicit employee involvement in performance improvement initiatives (production methods, equipment performance, product quality, etc.)

  • Audit team performance to ensure workmanship and documentation meets established standards and maintain proper documentation and record keeping associated with personnel performance

  • Lead and Manage Hazard Assessments and Eliminations

  • Overtime Administration and Fixed Cost Management

  • Provide daily site performance communications

  • First line troubleshooting of process/quality problems to minimize downtime and/or collect information to share with second line troubleshooting resources

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills Preferred:

  • Ability to assist and lead troubleshooting efforts in a manufacturing environment.

  • Previous supervisory experience

  • Manufacturing experience 4-6

  • HS Diploma minimum – Associates preferred – w/technical and/or HR manjor

  • Safety incident investigation (scene preservation and documentation, Root cause / Why Tree analysis, Tracking Database, effective correction actions, etc.)

  • Ability to understand Quality Management Systems (Datapass, AMOSS, Blaze, etc.) used to record test data and product quality information

  • Assertiveness regarding involvement in the operation of the plant
