OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in or lead multiple EH&S audits annually (primarily in the North America region, but potentially in the other global regions as well).

  • As an audit team member, you will audit your own subject of expertise, and potentially audit EH&S management systems.

  • As an audit team leader, you will have responsibility for

o staffing the audit team with competent resources,

o scheduling the audits with sites,

o coordinating all pre-audit, on-site and post-audit activities,

o ensure high quality audits reports are produced and distributed on time,

o coordinating audit reviews with manufacturing and EH&S leadership,

o managing the audit workflow in the corporate software.

  • Conduct the quality control step on audit reports produced by other lead auditors

  • Coach non-dedicated audit team leaders and audit team members to use the corporate audit tools and to achieve the expected quality and timing standards

  • Provide general and competency specific training to new EH&S auditors.

  • Provide self-assessment/1st party audit training and support when needed.

  • As a member of the Corteva Global EH&S Compliance & Auditing Team, take on additional audit program improvement tasks or roles as needed.

  • Collaborate with the global Center of Expertise (COE) competency leaders to ensure continuous improvement and overall effectiveness of the audit program

  • Interact with regional EH&S and COE staff on regulatory compliance initiatives

  • Interact with the Corteva EH&S standard owners on development/review of the self-assessment checklists associated with those standards

  • This role requires between 40% and 70% travel time - including intercontinental trips

Qualifications

Functional expertise and experience

  • At least 5 years of experience and demonstrated proficiency in the Environmental competency across all media (Air, Water and Waste)

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the Environmental competency

  • Detailed working knowledge of United States Environmental regulations

  • Good working knowledge of United States Safety & Health regulations

  • Demonstrated experience as an audit team member or lead auditor

  • Experience with corporate EH&S standards, regulatory compliance systems and tools, and EH&S management systems (ISO 14001, RCMS, OHSAS 18001, etc.).

  • Ability or experience to deliver training associated with the Environmental competency and/or auditing

Communicating with impact

  • Able to produce accurate and thoroughly documented and referenced audit findings

  • Able to defend the audit results and produce high quality succinct audit reports suitable for a senior leadership audience.

  • Able to gain broad support for the audit strategy and the role of all audit stakeholders in the process.

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Able to network globally, effectively and constructively, within the audit team, with the global competency leaders, the Platform EH&S Leaders, and the globally deployed resources in manufacturing.

  • Able to adapt auditing style to a global environment; grasp and adapt to local cultural and legislative differences

  • Coaching non-dedicated audit leaders and audit team members to use the corporate audit tools and to achieve the expected quality and timing standards

Planning and organizing

  • Able to organize independently the audit logistics and all aspects of the audit workflow, including mastering the corporate audit software.

  • Manage multiple audits in different phases so that audit reports are produced on time

  • Stabilize the planning and scheduling process with minimum iterations and changes.
