DuPont’s Pontchartrain Site in LaPlace, Louisiana has an exciting opening for an Industrial Operator to join our company. In this role you will operate the processes of the manufacturing unit to meet safety, environmental, production, yield, and quality requirements. This position will beresponsible for (but not limited to) the following:

  • Operate the processes of amanufacturing unit to meet safety, environmental, production, yield andQuality requirements.

  • Take and record process data(pressure, temperature, flow rates, etc.) in order to monitor and evaluateprocess status.

  • Follow all prescribed safetyand environmental practices in order to prevent injuries, preventincidents and ensure compliance with all environmental regulations.

  • Select and wear proper personalprotective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel toed shoes, fallprotection equipment, acid suit, respiratory equipment, etc.) in order toprevent personal injury.

  • Operate process equipment usingvaried process controls such as manual, pneumatic, PLC and DCS systems inorder to keep the process operating under normal conditions.

  • Connect process and utilityhoses with or without tools as appropriate while wearing the necessarypersonal protective equipment in order to maintain the correct flow of theprocess.

  • Handle, change out and packboth hazardous and non-hazardous materials wearing personal protectiveequipment in order to manage inventories without exposure or release tothe environment.

  • Perform chemical equipmentbreaks and vessel entries following site safety procedures and wearingpersonal protective equipment in order to do maintenance and safetyinspections on equipment

  • Perform minor maintenance workusing hand tools in order to maintain equipment.

  • Operate mobile equipment suchas forklift, yard dog and aerial lift in order to transport product andassist in equipment assessments and repairs.

  • Operate process equipment suchas reactors, columns, compressors, pumps, etc. in order to make qualityproduct and meet business needs.

  • Collect and analyze processsamples using lab methods and equipment for process control in order toverify product quality.

  • Perform routine inspections onsafety equipment, ladders, and process equipment in order to ensure thatthey are maintained in good working order.

  • Keep work area clean andorderly in order to prevent safety hazards.

  • Use computer basedcommunications, data-tracking and reporting systems such as, e-mail, Hazcom,SAP, Microsoft Office, etc. in order to monitor process data, accessinformation and initiate work systems.

  • Actively participates in teamtroubleshooting events such as using tools like 5 WHY, RCFA (Root CauseFailure Analysis).

  • Actively participates in 6Sigma Quality systems in order to improve the manufacturing process.

Qualifications

In order to be qualifiedfor this role, you must possess the following:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 3-5 years of industrial ormechanical experience or related educational experience/degree

  • Willing and able to climb anddescend stairs, ladders, enter process equipment while wearing theappropriate personal protection equipment

  • Willing and able to work inelevated structures such as process units, pipe racks, vessels/tanks whilewearing the appropriate personal protection including fall protection

  • Basic proficiency in MicrosoftOffice

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Teamwork skills

  • Demonstrated ability tocommunicate with team and site personnel

  • Demonstrated ability to work a12 hour rotating shift-work and be on-call for off-hours work as requiredto meet business needs

The following additionalskill sets are preferred by the site:

  • Knowledge and/or experiencewith (Distributed Control Systems) DCS or (Programmable Logic Controls)PLC

  • Demonstrated skills todiagnose, troubleshoot, prepare equipment and perform minor maintenancework in order to resolve process and mechanical problems within a chemicalmanufacturing environment

  • SAP experience

  • Previous experience working ina high performance work environment

  • Mechanical experience
