DuPont Safety and Construction is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the Manufacturing Technology group at the Pontchartrain site in Louisiana to support the continuous production of the raw materials used in making KEVLAR® on the Pontchartrain Site in LaPlace, LA.

Due to U.S. export control regulations, only U.S. citizens and Green Card holders can be considered for this position.

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment and have demonstrated the ability to lead program segments to meet team objectives.

The Pontchartrain site is conveniently located on the Mississippi River with access to Interstates 10 & 55 and within commuting distance from both New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. South Louisiana's unique culture and Gulf Coast climate offer year-round opportunities for fun and adventure.

Mechanical ATO/Plant Support

Attend daily rackup, and maintain a steady line of contact with the shift CCR operator, mechanics, area Maintenance Coordinator and Production Day Resource.

Review area SOCs for accuracy in regard to mechanical equipment (as scheduled or on demand), and route changes when necessary.

Review area SOPs for accuracy in regard to mechanical equipment on demand. When revisions are required, work with area trainers to make the changes.

Review area MPs for accuracy in regard to mechanical equipment as scheduled or on demand. When revisions are required, work with maintenance trainers to make the changes.

Participate in the biweekly PPDa PMLT meeting as the area mechanical technical resource.

Maintain a thorough understanding of the equipment in his/her area of responsibility

Provide technical support to operations and maintenance on demand.

Work with operators and mechanics to identify continuous improvement initiatives and work to implement those initiatives.

Write Test Authorizations and closing reports as needed to accomplish various tests or temporary changes.

Review and sign off on isometrics ready for construction (via maintenance work orders).

Participate in area PHAs.

Projects (CODs)

Maintain all identified COTs and CODs in the COT database, and enter new COTs as needed.

Lead area CODs

Review and sign off on CODs, isometrics, P&IDs and equipment details ready for construction issue.

Participate in the monthly Unit Team meetings, and work with site personnel to prioritize COTs.

Participate in the monthly COD Status Review meetings.

Participate in the Concept/Constructability Review meeting.

Safety/PSM/Environmental

Participate in incident investigations.

Ensure all assigned PSM-related corrective actions are completed by the deadline.

Qualifications

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree

3+ years mechanical engineer experience within a manufacturing operation.
