DuPont is currently seeking an Automation & Process Control Specialist at the Pontchartrain site in LaPlace, Louisiana. 

 

DuPont Pontchartrain Operations manufactures two aromatic amines, p-phenylene diamine, and o-phenylene diamine. The end uses of the phenylene diamines are rubber chemicals, dyes and pigments, agricultural chemicals, and Kevlar®.

 

The site is conveniently located on the Mississippi River with access to Interstates 10 & 55 within commuting distance from both New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. South Louisiana's unique culture and Gulf Coast climate offer year round opportunities for fun and adventure.

 

This role will provide process control support to meet customer needs for the DuPont Safety and Construction Platform. The role will provide assistance to operations through daily process control support, will participate in process improvements, participate on capital projects, provide process control assistance to area maintenance on reliability and uptimes issues, and participate on area Process Safety Management teams.

Primary Function: Support for control and safety systems, data historian, and associated equipment/applications. Includes but not limited to:

Honeywell Experion DCS, Honeywell Safety Manager SIS, Honeywell OneWireless, Series C Universal IO, PM IO, C200 & C300 controllers, Remote Universal Safety IO, HMI Web Graphics, PHD, DOC4000, eServer, Allen Bradley PLC, Maestro PLC, and Aspen IP.21 data historian.

Manage change for all systems. Participate and/or lead related programs/projects. Provide functional guidance to PM&C Technicians. Provide training to technicians, engineers, and training department.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5 years industrial instrumentation, process control, or related experience

  • Experience with DCS configuration/hardware

  • Experience with SIS configuration/hardware

  • Experience with PLC configuration/hardware

  • Information Technology background, education, or experience

  • Experience with HTML graphic building

  • Demonstrated competence with Microsoft desktop applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead both long-term programs/projects as well as short-term operational issues

  • Good communications/interpersonal skills to allow productive, collaborative relationships with vendors, operations, mechanical, technical, and construction personnel

  • Demonstrated strength in getting results, meeting commitments, and problem solving skills

  • Ability to develop creative solutions to a variety of system issues

  • Available for call-out and willing to work outside normal hours when necessary

Skills/experience regarded as desirable and considered a plus:

  • Certified Control Systems Technician

  • Experience with configuration in Experion Control Builder, Safety Manager Safety Builder, Fault Tolerant Ethernet, DOC4000, and/or PHD

  • Experience with Honeywell’s HMI Web Display builder

  • Experience with Maestro PLC

  • Experience with Honeywell OneWireless

  • Experience with Aspen’s IP.21 data historian

  • Experience with Microsoft Access

  • Experience with Ethernet networks and switch configuration
