  • Trained in Microbiology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field with an emphasis in bacterial cultivation and molecular techniques.

  • Position requires a min of 5 yrs experience with a MSc designation, 7+ yrs w/BSc of relevant experience. Some industry experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated microbiological skills; aseptic technique, culture media preparation, cell enumeration, microscopy.

  • Experience in isolating and cultivating bacteria. Experience with human microbiome genera is highly desirable.

  • Good understanding of bacterial physiology and taxonomy.

  • Experience in performing strain screening assays. Experience with human cell lines is highly desirable.

  • Basic knowledge and experience with molecular biology methods; primer design, DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, cloning. Experience with NGS data sets and bioinformatic tools is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform multi-task projects to a successful result.

  • Must be a team player and a focused individual with a strong work ethic and great attention to detail.

  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills for presentation of scientific concepts and results to internal and external customers.

  • Compliance with all company policies is required.

  • Responsible for adherence to all quality systems including, ISO 9002 and Food Safety, with an understanding of DuPont Quality Policy and procedures

Qualifications

  • Trained in Microbiology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field with an emphasis in bacterial cultivation, microbial physiology, and screening assays.

  • Position requires a min of 5 yrs experience with a PhD designation, 7+ yrs with MSc and/or 10+ yrs w/BSc of relevant experience.

  • Extensive experience in isolating and cultivating diverse bacteria from complex communities, including anaerobic species. Experience with human microbiome genera and BSL2 manipulation is highly desirable.

  • Strong understanding of bacterial physiology, growth and fermentation under various media and conditions.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing high throughput assays for strain screening, including: carbon and nutrient utilization, cell adhesion, immune responses, competitive exclusion, acid tolerance, and antibiotic resistance.

  • Basic knowledge and experience with molecular biology methods; primer design, DNA/RNA isolation, PCR.

  • Strong publication record.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently design, manage, and perform multi-task projects to a successful result.

  • Must be a team player and a focused individual with a strong work ethic and great attention to detail.

  • Experience in project management; planning, tracking and reporting, desirable.

  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills for presentation of scientific concepts and results to internal and external customers.

  • Compliance with all company policies is required.
