The Research Associate for DSI provides computer and software support for multi-disciplinary research staff including, but not limited to: software training, data management, workflow processes, software management, data integrity assistance, and consulting services. The DSI Research Associate may assist senior DSI staff in project work related to software applications.

The successful applicant will be part of a team providing software support for researchers working in product development. They will be expected to:
Provide support and troubleshooting for research softwareapplications.
Deliver exemplary training in the use of software anddatabase applications.
Resolve issues related to hardware such as printers, scales, andmobile data collection devices.
Participate in station activities to expand knowledge ofresearch processes and best enable research users with IM solutions.
Generate alternative solutions to researcher IM needs throughimaginative use of exiting tools.
Facilitate information management by analyzing research needs, providing ad-hoc data analysis and reporting.
Collaborate with software development staff to providesolutions, while validating and testing newly developed software.
Collaborate with DSI and Breeding groups globally to enable thedeployment of required systems and applications that support research processesand data.
Educational Qualifications - One of the following is required:
B.S. degree in Plant genetics/plant breeding or relatedscientific field with demonstrated experience in data science or informationmanagement with 2 years of professional experience.
B.S degree in Computer Science or related technical fieldwith demonstrated experience in data science or information management with 2years of professional experience. Additional experience in plant breeding,genetics, field agronomy or another scientific field preferred.
Associates degree in Computer Science or related technicalfield with demonstrated experience in data science or information managementwith 5 years of professional experience. Additional experience in plantbreeding, genetics, field agronomy or another scientific field preferred.
Associates degree in Plant genetics/plant breeding orrelated scientific field with demonstrated experience in data science orinformation management with 5 years of professional experience.
Competencies & Experience:
Experience orexpertise in field-based breeding in hybrid crops, genetic mapping ormolecular breeding, plant pathology, agronomy.
Knowledge ofmolecular markers and the scientific application of genetic data.
Workingknowledge of personal computer software, mobile data collection devices,internet technology and their application to plant breeding and genetics.
Experience indata management, data analysis and reporting tools, and software.
Demonstratedunderstanding of Excel for processing, analysis and presentation ofresearch data.
Ability to coordinatesoftware training and support for clients by managing projects andimplementing solutions.
Excellentwritten and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability tocommunicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
Demonstratedability to effectively manage priorities in a multi-task work environment.
Stronginterpersonal skills, including leadership and empathy.
Demonstratedability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
Capabilityto work with complex quantities of data and analyses; ability to extract,summarize, and report large amounts of data.
Understandingof information security concepts for a research organization, including highestethical behavior.
