Our Martinez site has a new opening for a Mechanical Reliability Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will provide technical expertise on all matters of reliability engineering, assessment and monitoring of all process equipment. Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Perform technical consulting in variousofferings such as root cause failure analysis and system preventativemaintenance.

  • Provides the technical expertise/team leadershipon various matters of Mechanical Engineering for chemical process manufacturingand drives improvements in the area of equipment maintenance includingphilosophies, strategies and best maintenance practices

  • MIQA (Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance)element lead

  • Developand implement equipment asset plans using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)and other reliability techniques

  • Performphysical failure analysis for equipment failures and conduct performanceevaluations of existing equipment.

  • Analyze equipmenttrends, historical data, and uptime data to recommend / justify improvements toobtain lowest life cycle cost on different classes of equipment.

  • Promoteconsistency by standardizing equipment maintenance and repair procedures.

  • Participatein maintenance and reliability networks and share best practices.

  • Participatein continuing education courses, professional organizations, and reliabilitytraining to keep current on emerging technologies and techniques.

  • Provide mechanicalsupport required to maintain day-to-day production activities

  • Participatein and lead Incident Investigation and Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) Teams

Qualifications

The following are required:

  • Bachelorof Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineer preferred)

  • 3-5 years ofexperience in maintenance engineering in a manufacturing environment

  • Ability toplan, prioritize, and implement multiple projects concurrently

  • Strongscientific approach to solving problems; makes data based decisions.

  • Ability tolead and uphold core values (Respect for people, Safety, Ethics, andEnvironmental Stewardship)

  • Goodwritten and oral communication skills.

  • Stronginterpersonal and leadership skills and a "hands-on" attitude

The following are preferred:

  • ProcessSafety Management (PSM) background, with emphasis on Mechanical Integrity

  • Basicunderstanding of reliability and maintenance principles including the following:

  • Dataanalysis techniques and statistical interpretation skills

  • Failureanalysis including preservation of evidence techniques

  • Maintenanceand reliability best practices including the work management process

  • Rotatingequipment and alignment techniques

  • BasicMaterials Science including material selection and properties

  • Lubrication,tribology, and fundamentals of interpreting oil analysis results

  • Vibrationanalysis and interpretation of vibration analysis reports

  • Fundamentalsof nondestructive testing including thermography

  • Root CauseFailure Analysis(RCFA) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis(FMEA)
