Senior Application Technologist - Ice Cream/Fluid Dairy (Job Number: 192605W-01)
NATURE OF WORK
This position is responsible for providing customer support for the DuPont N&H portfolio in the application areas of Ice Cream, Fluid Dairy, and Personal Care. Primary emphasis is on Ice Cream and Frozen Dessert applications. This position requires a presence in the laboratory but may also include customer visits. The candidate will be required to understand the DuPont N&H portfolio, with an emphasis on Systems & Texturants and Emulsifiers, and their use in Ice Cream and Frozen Dessert applications. Working knowledge of laboratory and pilot plant environments is required. This includes testing, analysis, equipment setup and maintenance, preparation of materials, and data summary. This position will work closely with the other scientists and technicians in the group and with other application groups within the North America Innovation team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to the following:
Building a solid understanding of the systems, texturants/hydrocolloids, and emulsifiers within the DuPont N&H portfolio that will be used in ice cream and frozen desserts. The candidate will need to grasp this information overtime and be able to share relevant portions with others in Innovation, Sales, and customers, as appropriate.
Perform laboratory experiments to test ingredients in the DuPont N&H portfolio that are applicable to the stabilization of ice cream and frozen desserts.
Manage TSRs (Technical Service Requests) to address customer opportunities that are submitted by sales account managers. These TSRs will cover both growth and maintenance of the existing customer base.
Close collaboration with other members of the immediate team and with sales account managers.
Assist customers by participating in in-house visits, answering technical questions, and providing technical service to customers and Sales personnel.
Maintain clean work areas and ensure that equipment in the laboratory is properly maintained and is operational.
Compliance with applicable company policies concerning maintaining a drug free workplace is required.
Compliance with all Company and Department policies is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
To successfully perform the requirements of this position, the incumbent must possess a four-year degree in food science, food technology, or related sciences.
Project management experience is required.
Previous experience in formulating ice cream and frozen desserts is a plus.
Must be able to communicate effectively (verbal and written), and have appropriate organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to independently manage projects
independently design and ambitiously carry-out scientific experiments and communicate effectively with customers.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR SAFETY
- Incumbent must strictly adhere to Innovation Department guidelines and protocol when handling hazardous substances.
- This position operates in a cubicle/laboratory environment and will require travel up to 50% of the time, as appropriate.
