Field Safety Technician (Job Number: 194355W-01)

Corteva Agriscience™, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont™ has a 4-5 weeks opportunity for a Temporary Field Safety Technician in Chatham, Ontario. This temporary/seasonal position will primarily focus on field safety during the corn detasseling season. The role involves auditing contractors for compliance with field safety programs. This includes hazard assessments in season, and a post season critique. This individual must possess strong communication skills and be able to take a strong safety leadership position.
What do we expect from you?
Be a key member of the location field safety team, ensuring safety programs and guidelines are understood and followed.
Train, coach and audit contractors while they work in the fields.
High attention to detail is needed to maintain awareness of existing and proposed safety codes/regulations and company guidelines, while collecting and analyzing appropriate data.
Must be proactive, able to solve problems and make decisions in time sensitive conditions.
Will network with other field safety personnel and location management to ensure a consistent message is delivered.
Specific job assignments may include auditing for personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, field sanitation, vehicle safety, emergency action plans, heat stress, drinking water, etc.
Will review audit findings with location management, field teams and peer group.
What do we need from you?
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Valid driver’s license.
Minimum of one-year teaching experience or similar role, with demonstrated leadership, supervisory skills and the ability to engage all ages
General understanding of applicable seed field safety knowledge.
Demonstrates understanding of record keeping requirements.
CPR and First Aid (will be provided, if needed).
Knowledge of driving safety, awareness of ergonomics and emergency response planning.
Proficient in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Able to work outdoors in all environmental conditions, including, but not limited to heat, cold, rain, dew, mud, uneven surfaces, dust and pollen.
Must be able to perform audits in a wide variety of conditions including a seed production field setting with regular interaction taking place in high traffic and activity areas with large groups of workers.
Able to manage a high workload with some extended hours and weekend work during seasonal peaks.
Travel within Chatham Kent is required.
