DuPont Wingham Crew Leaders in Ontario, Canada
Wingham Crew Leaders (Job Number: 192637W-01)
The role of the canola crew leader is an important one. As a crew leader, you will be responsible for transporting, training, supervising and working along with a crew of four seasonal employees (roguers) in the activity of canola field roguing. This is accomplished by either hoeing or pulling the plants out. Training will be provided to individuals to familiarize them with this task. You will also be responsible for completing inspection forms and reports weekly.
You will get a company supplied truck to pick up your crew in the morning at a designated location, which is normally a parking lot on your way out of town.
Rate of Pay:
We are paid weekly and this year all staff will have direct deposit.
Your wage would be $16.00 per hour. If you decide to return the following year you will receive a wage increase.
Length of Employment:
Depending on when you can start (end of June, early July), the length of employment varies due to weather and help required. Since this is an agricultural related industry, we cannot predict the exact length of time you will be required. If it is a hot/dry summer roguing typically lasts two-three weeks. If it is a warm/wet summer the roguing season will last longer as plants will be flowering longer.
Work hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Periodically, working hours will be determined according to temperature and weather conditions, i.e. very hot, rain and/or stormy weather.
We are typically flexible if you require time off for vacation, appointments or if you need to leave early for another job.
This position is very important to the future of Pioneer product advancements as your attention to detail will provide the highest quality of canola seed available on the market.
To qualify for this role you must posses the following:
Must have a valid G-class Driver’s License and a clean driving record
Enjoy working outdoors
Must be able to motivate and supervise a crew of up to four people
Must be conscientious and have excellent attention to detail
Pollen/bee sting allergies should be taken into careful consideration
You will be required to take a road test conducted by your supervisor, and you must also be available for a CPR/First Aid Training Course, which will be conducted at our Wingham office.
