Within the planning and execution of large capital projects, the incumbent has the primary accountability to ensure that construction of a new facility meets the business goals and requirements in Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), quality, schedule and cost. The Construction Manager(CM) has the overall accountability for the management and administration of typically outsourced construction management and construction contracts. The Construction Manager also applies functional knowledge and leadership skills to achieve the project goals.

The Construction Manager typically interacts with the EPCm (Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management) Contractor and Construction Contractor's field staff. The CM ensures that the plans for managing Safety, Quality, Schedule and Cost on the Construction site are implemented and controlled. The CM works closely with Contract Management and Project Controls for managing the labor contracts in terms of administration, progress monitoring and control, management of changes, additions and claims. The CM is responsible for the final acceptance of the mechanical completion of the work as dictated by the Client, DuPont standards and other legally binding authorities.

Qualifications

Education/Certification Requirements:

Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline. Six Sigma Black Belt or GBPL certification preferred. At least 7 years of practical experience in engineering, construction management or construction roles of chemical plants/projects. Similar areas of expertise are Maintenance or Turnaround Manager roles.

Job information and working conditions:

The candidate must have a sound understanding of the Construction Management(CM) discipline. Experience in Construction, Maintenance or Engineering is preferred.

Due to the global demand, the candidate must be prepared on short notice to take an international assignment on one of the Mega projects, in the role of the Construction Manager and Owner's Representative, in an environment of outsourced engineering and construction contracts. As a project steering team member of a large project (> 1.0 MM field man-hours), CM interacts with process design, detailed design teams during the planning stages of a project, during the execution stage and takes a leadership role in the management and administration of the construction management and construction contracts.
