Description

The Manufacturing Representative is responsible for providing a detailed Knowledge of the manufacturing process technology and is responsible to the Global Technology Center for technology implemented.

The Manufacturing Representative role fulfills the following high-level responsibilities:

  • Implementation of MET during the course of the project as described by the Technology Center

  • Ensuring use of the Functional Input and Evaluation process, “Subject Matter Expert Involvement Plan,” during the project

  • “Change owner” activities during the project after Step 12.17, Reactive Chemicals Review/Process Hazard Analysis (RC/PHA) reviews

  • Activities for providing for operability of the facility during the project (including Operating Discipline)

  • Planning for startup and safe and efficient transition to operations

This role ensures implementation of the best technology in the project by integrating operability input from Plant Operations, MET (Most Effective Technology) from the Technology Center and Maintenance and Reliability inputs into definition and design. The Manufacturing Representative also carries the majority project accountability for the technical integrity and operability of the final facility.

Business opportunities and alternative technologies are identified, evaluated, and selected by the business Technology Leadership Group (TLG) or plant Improvement Team (responsible to the global Technology Center), using the Technology Implementation for Competitive Advantage (TICA) process and the Project Identification Stage of Global Project Methodology. A Manufacturing Representative is assigned by the technology center leader at the beginning of Project Definition (Step 12.01 "Identify and Select Project Team Leaders"), to represent both Plant Operation's and the Technology Center's interest during the Project Definition and Project Design and Construction Stages. Effective interface between the Manufacturing Representative and Plant Operations is essential to ensure technical integrity and optimum operability.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.

  • At least 3 years of chemical industry experience.
