The site employs approximately over 800 DowDuPont employees and a large number of contractors supporting the day to day plant operations. The site consists of different plants which includes Energy/Environmental Plant, two Plastics Plant and Ethylene Plant. All plants work together to produce products that are used in a variety of applications such as those used in automotive, food packaging, perfume bottles/caps and golf balls.

The Energy/Environmental Plant is responsible for producing and managing the site utilities which includes Electricity, Filtered water, Potable water, Steam, Natural Gas, Nitrogen and others. The plant is managed safely with the goal of 100% reliability. The success of the site is dependent upon the reliability of all the utilities needed to produce the products that we sell in the market.

The Water Plant consists of Clarification units, gravity filters, cations & anions, mixed beds, potable water, sanitary water treatment, closed cooling water system, wastewater system and fire water.

This role serves as a critical resource for the operations team and requires a highly-motivated individual, providing technical expertise to safely and efficiently operate the plant, resolve any issue that may arise and clearly communicate those resolutions to the team. The Run Plant Engineer provides the overall engineering support for the Water Plant and Infrastructure, and is expected to seek the necessary support from other Technical resources in and out of the area if needed.

  • Strong ownership and accountability to respective units and assignments

  • Provide coaching and training to the production team

  • Model the behavior required as a leader of the production team

  • Demonstrate personal leadership, ensuring adequate time is spent in the field directly interacting with operations to express the value this unit has, to the rest of the site.

  • Provide leadership towards Environmental, Health & Safety excellence

  • Understand the water systems process flow, provide guidance and coaching as needed

  • Provide Technical expertise to support the Water Plant and Energy infrastructure

  • Work with the Technical Advisor, Gatekeeper, Maintenance & Reliability engineers to identify issues and properly schedule repairs & maintenance of equipment

  • Analyze unit performance (Key Performance Indicators) & reliability, and provide improvement recommendations to enhance performance

  • Understand overall cost of production, provide support to reduce overall spending

  • Attend and provide input to the daily Production meeting, lead meetings as assigned/scheduled.

  • Concur with the Tech Center and Subject Matter Experts as the need arise

  • Contact experts (internal & external) as needed when advance troubleshooting is called for

  • Conduct Root Cause analysis and properly implement/document improvement recommendations

  • Daily review of logbook and alarm summaries to stay informed of plant operations. Provide operating recommendations to the production team

  • Be available and respond to plant emergencies and unplanned event/s

  • Understand and ensure compliance with environmental & plant operating permits/limits

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering degree with background in Water Plants will be considered.

  • 2-3 years industrial experience, preferably in a Water Plant setting

  • EIT preferred but not required

  • Root cause analysis trained preferred but not required. Willing to be trained.
