Lead Thermoman(R)/Demoman(R) Engineer (Job Number: 195218W-01)


This position requires a self-managing, semi-independent technologist that maintains and is responsible for the safe operation and transport of DuPont’s Thermo-man® Laboratory at Spruance and Thermo-Man® Portable Demonstration Unit. This role potentially requires >50% travel

This position is expected to work closely with the Thermal Apparel Business and Thermal global technical teams and interact directly with Thermal Apparel value chain members and end users. The initial scope of this assignment includes:

  • The development and maintenance of a good working knowledge of thermal manikin testing technology.

  • Active participation on the team developing specifications, upgrades and logistics of the portable Thermo-Man ® unit.

  • Lead responsibility for the operation and troubleshooting of the Stationary Laboratory Thermo-Man® and the Portable Thermo-Man ® Demonstration Unit.

  • Documentation development and implement of procedures for the safe operation of Stationary Laboratory Thermo-Man® and the Portable Thermo-Man ® Demonstration Unit.

  • Ensuring that the Stationary Laboratory Thermo-Man® and the Portable Thermo-Man ® Demonstration Unit meets all DuPont corporate and regional safety standards for transport and operation always.

  • Has responsibility for developing and maintaining the DuPont corporately required Process Hazards Assessments for the Stationary Laboratory Thermo-Man® and the Portable Thermo-Man ® Demonstration Unit.

  • Manages, coordinates, and is responsible for the operational and safety training needs of all assistants, transportation, and associated maintenance personnel.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Specialized training/certification: BS in science, math or engineering. Engineering preferred.

Experience: None required but some is preferred.

Travel: at least 50% to support scheduled Demostration Unit events

Technical skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment

  • Demonstrated technical writing skills

  • Strong safety ethics

  • Ability to analyze and clearly present technical data

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage assistants
