Quality Senior Engineer

Quality Technical Service (QTS)

The Tyvek® Quality Technical Service (QTS) role requires a wide set of skills and abilities including day to day triage of customer complaints, timely investigations including Serious Quality Incidents, informal updates and formal written responses to customers, while communicating effectively with customers in sometimes difficult, challenging situations. For urgent matters, support may require evening and weekend response.

The key responsibilities of the QTS role:

Investigate and respond to customer complaints and inquiries

Lead multi-disciplinary investigative teams

Track quality metric performance related to customer complaints

Develop intimate knowledge of Tyvek® process and quality systems

Familiarity with customer and market processes, requirements, and end uses

Additional responsibilities may include:

Respond to and address supplier surveys

Host customer visits and quality audits

Collaborate with the global quality resources to respond to issues

Provide quality based support to regional sales teams

Backup (vacation relief, some holiday, night/weekend call) to the Quality Engineer Roles who support day to day manufacturing

The QTS understands and applies:

ISO 9001:2015, ISO 11607 and ISO 13485 requirements

Quality Management System best practices internally and at customers

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Input into potential improvements to the internal quality management system

The QTS is a leader in Tyvek® technology:

Makes recommendations for upgrading of internal processes that may range from incremental improvements to major technology changes

Mentors others regarding customer requirements

Assists in operations training

Leadership

Interface with multiple organizations including suppliers, internal partners, and customers to lead multi-disciplinary case investigation team

Communicate customer satisfaction related to quality issues

Make recommendations for implementing corrective and preventive action

Communicate realistic process capability internally and to customers

Quality Management System

Drive investigations to root cause and subsequent identification and implementation of corrective and preventive actions

Organization and communication of QMS trends

Customer Satisfaction

Understand and review customer requirements, implement product / process design or quality assurance release process improvements to eliminate the root cause of quality problems

Communicate with customers as needed to assure adequate customer complaint resolution

Analyzes ongoing quality performance of product and process data, summarizing performance for periodic process capability review by leadership, reviews customer complaint data to provide early identification of customer satisfaction patterns.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

Establish a quality culture in the organization to drive customer centricity

Drive site quality continuous improvements using key performance indicators as agreed with business leadership.

Support problem solving, the quality improvement process, and effective corrective and preventive actions

Utilize process expertise to partner with Continuous Improvement project efforts

Responsible for Metrics/Performance for their area/unit including

Cost of nonconformance (CoNC) (Claims and Returns)

Complaint and Complaint frequency

Audit score / feedback

Qualifications

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

BS/BA degree in Quality Management Systems, Mathematics, Science or Engineering

Minimum experience of 5 or more years in an Manufacturing Technical, Quality, Operations or related Process Engineering Role

Knowledge of quality management systems relevant to manufacturing such as GMP, RCFA, 5 Why, FMEA

Strong communication, analytical, team skills, business process management

Data driven approach and methodology for driving process improvement

Ability to be on team providing 24/7 quality coverage to operations

Ability to accommodate occasional travel to customers on product quality issues

ISO-9001or ISO-13485 Lead Auditor Certification (can be obtained within one year in job)

The following skill sets are preferred :

Demonstrated knowledge in statistical process control and application of Statistical Process Control in plant and laboratory environments

Quality Systems knowledge and/or experience

Experience in flexible packaging, process validation, Pharmaceutical applications

Position will reside at the Spruance location in Richmond, VA

Must be able to work independently and represent DuPont externally
