Transportation & Advanced Polymers (T&AP) is posting for a process control engineer for the EMEA Engineering hub. The process control engineer is responsible for helping with infrastructure support, including various client, server, and proprietary control systems. The engineer is responsible for helping to plan, document, maintain, monitor, troubleshoot, and adapt these devices to meet process control needs. The engineer is responsible for auditing and ensuring control systems are in compliance with accepted control systems standards. The scope of this role includes support for sites in the EMEA region, and the desired location will be the Dordrecht site. In addition to control and instrumentation infrastructure support, this engineer will also support capital project installations and upgrading the existing distributed control systems. This includes HMI, hardware, and software upgrades and well as field devices and infrastructure.

Leads or participates as part of a team to upgrade processes and equipment related to process control by implementing modifications ranging from incremental improvements to technology game changes. Focuses on insuring high system uptime, proper documentation, and information security per business requirements. Mentors other engineers and assists in operations training.

This position requires interaction with operators and mechanics, technical/engineering professionals, and management personnel at multiple T&AP manufacturing sites.

The job scope includes, but is not limited to:

  • Providing engineering support to capital project teams to implement large and small capacity projects involving control systems installations, upgrades and expansions.

  • Developing technology and control systems to improve yield, capacity, and quality of the existing products.

  • Ensuring that manufacturing equipment is properly installed, monitored and maintained to operate with maximum efficiency and safety.

  • Providing second tier support and guidance to EMEA sites for process control applications and systems, their maintenance and upgrades, as well as troubleshooting root cause failure analysis as required.

  • Supporting technical response for incident investigations and operations troubleshooting.

  • Being responsible for transfer of product/process knowledge to others in technical groups inside and outside of DuPont (including engineering contractors) as well as operations personnel.

  • Provide guidance and support to EMEA sites for Safety Instrumented Systems, Safety Logic Solvers, and Functional Safety Assessments.




  • Bachelor of Science degree from accredited university - Chemical, Electrical, Computer, or related engineering

  • Experience supporting a software based application in a production environment.

  • Systems administrator for Microsoft Windows Workstations, Server 2000, and 2003 including Active Directory and Group Policy.

  • Understanding and applied knowledge of client/server architecture, hardware, and troubleshooting.

  • Significant DCS and PLC experience, preferably with the following systems: ABB Symphony Plus and 800XA DCS, Honeywell TPS and Experion DCS and Safety Manager, Siemens S5/S7 PLCs and Safety Controllers, and Rockwell PLC’s.

  • Experience with commercial process historian systems such as Aspentech’s InfloPlus 21.

  • One (1) or more years of demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a track record of fostering a respectful work environment.

  • High level of self-motivation, work ethic, initiative, and flexibility.

  • Demonstrated capability to resolve issues using fact-based problem solving.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand manufacturing processes and process control best practices required to support operations.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead effective communication processes to resolve issues and ensure team alignment and understanding.

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to self-manage and network with other area/site/corporate resources.

  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office Products.

  • Prior experience with both continuous and batch processes.

  • Six Sigma certification – Green Belt or better.

  • Capital project front end loading and implementation experience.

  • Web administrator supporting Microsoft Internet Information Services or Apache.

  • Knowledge of TCP/IP based networks and implementation.

  • Experience with and working knowledge of industrial firewall systems and Process Control System Cybersecurity measures.

  • Minimum 3-5 year commitment
