Job Description

Corteva Agriscience (Agriculture division of DowDuPont) is focused on solving the challenging problems needed to improve food security and enrich the lives of all mankind. We are a diverse, global, team of genomics discovery research bioinformaticians looking for an outstanding BioinformaticsResearch Associate to help us solve exciting challenges in the areas of genomics, bioinformatics, and next-generation sequence analysis.

Key Responsibilities

As part of the team, the Bioinformatics Research Associate will:

Ø Develop, maintain and run cutting-edge bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis and interpretation of genomics datasets (DNA-Seq, RNA-Seq etc.)

Ø Work in close collaboration with bioinformaticians and R&D scientists to perform high quality genomics analyses for a variety of research applications, including variant detection, comparative genomics, gene candidate discovery etc., using state-of-the-art tools.

Ø Work with software engineers to automate existing analysis workflows as well as containerize and deploy pipelines in cloud based computing environments.

Ø Develop and maintain an understanding of the scientific and biological domain supported by the team, as well as bioinformatics tools, software, and IT technologies used by the team.

Ø Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and an ability to deliver effective presentations of analysis results to research collaborators

Ø Prioritize and complete research in a timely, reproducible manner, both independently and within teams.


Required Qualifications:

Ø M.S. degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science or a related field with at least 1 to 2 years of relevant industry experience

Ø Solid knowledge of at least one scripting languages (Perl, Python, etc.)

Ø Experience with Unix-based high performance computing clusters.

Ø Experience with R/Bioconductor for data analysis and interpretation.

Ø Good understanding of next generation genomics technologies including Illumina, Pacific BioSciences, Bionano, and Oxford Nanopore.

Ø Demonstrated experience with popular NGS analysis software including BWA, bowtie, GATK-suite, HiSat, Trinity, RSEM, HTSEq, and SnpEff.

Ø Ability to solve complex bioinformatics problems.

Preferred Qualifications

Ø Proficiency in genomic data analysis, bioinformatics algorithm development and biological data interpretation.

Ø Familiarity with developing and maintaining genomics data analysis pipelines in cloud based environment.
