Brief Job Description :
The Reliability Engineer position will provide technical expertise to the Towanda site’s PSM/MIQA (Mechanical Integrity Quality Assurance) and Reliability programs with an emphasis on equipment performance and reliability. The Reliability Engineer will focus on improving site Predictive/Preventative technologies and will play an integral role in driving TEEP/OEE excellence for the site. This position will champion a strong Reliability program and will implement improvements using industry best practices and appropriate Reliability Engineering tools and methods. The Reliability Engineer plays a vital role in the development and progress of manufacturing facilities in optimizing Safety, cost, and production output.
Provide ownership, coaching, and guidance with respect to the site’s PSM program. Manage, maintain, and improve the site’s Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance program.
Develop, lead and implement programs/systems/processes and equipment upgrades that improve equipment reliability/OEE (e.g., preventive and predictive maintenance systems, techniques and schedules, material recommendations, troubleshooting guides, repair plans, training, spare parts, etc.).
Ensure the area MIQA (Mechanical Integrity Quality Assurance) systems meet the requirements of S21A (OSHA Process Safety Regulation)
Champion foundational Maintenance Reliability Programs that include, Infrared Thermography, Control Valve, HVAC, Piping, Welding, Alignment, Balancing, Infrastructure/Structural, Lubrication, Steam Trap Maintenance, Oil Analysis, Vibration Analysis, etc.
Analyze equipment trends, historical data, and Uptime/OEE data to recommend and justify improvements to obtain lowest life cycle cost.
Diagnose breakdowns. Define Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) trigger points & implementing corrective and improvement plans resulting from the RCFAs. Define and setup critical spare parts to ensure they are when needed.
Perform failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) to develop appropriate equipment maintenance plans/strategies that include equipment checks, and Preventive & Predictive Maintenance (PPM).
Design maintenance strategies, procedures and methods to sustain and improve equipment reliability
Work with appropriate maintenance management systems such as, SAP, Meridium, UltraPIPE etc. to create or modify existing tasks. Perform PPM effectiveness assessment at appropriate timings.
Use tools (RBI, FMEA+) to determine appropriate inspection methodologies and intervals. Use best practices to drive improvement in fixed equipment reliability to ensure the Mechanical Integrity program is both effective and efficient.
Review inspection reports and analyze data to determine fitness for service, quality of inspection and appropriate inspection intervals.
Work with plant engineering, purchasing and plant's stores organizations to develop & execute appropriate Quality Assurance (QA) practices assessing their effectiveness.
Manage small to large projects as needed to meet and improve equipment safety, regulatory compliance, reliability, performance, ergonomics, maintenance costs, and achieve desired product quality and production rates.
Participate in maintenance and reliability networks as well as external networks, courses, professional organizations stay to current on and evaluate new and emerging technologies for their applicability.
Working Environment: The working environment is general office and manufacturing plant. Daily contact with employees in other departments is required.
Minimum of 4 years of manufacturing, engineering, or process development experience
Bachelor’s Degree (16 years). Preferred discipline is Mechanical Engineering; however other disciplines will be considered with applicable experience.
Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time, perform office and clerical duties including use of office tools, and to travel between office and plant environments of varied temperatures and humidity.
Maintenance and Reliability Engineers are encouraged to get CMRP certified (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional).
Knowledge of and experience with:
Process Safety Management (PSM) elements and principles.
Piping, and pressure vessels systems.
Mechanical design, machine design and manufacturing systems.
Rotating equipment and alignment techniques.
Materials Science and physical failure analysis.
Instrumentation and process control.
Total Effective Equipment Performance (TEEP) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) Metrics
Root Cause Failure Analysis and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis.
Industry Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEPS), as well as other codes and applicable standards.
ISO and other related quality standards.
Cost/Capital analysis and justification.
Familiarity with Electrical Engineering (motors, controls, instruments, starters, etc.)
Six Sigma Green Belt Project Leader Certification
