Research Associate - Integrated Pest Management (Job Number: 191760W-01)

Description

The Research Associate will support integrated pest management (IPM) at the screen houses. They will be responsible for all pesticides and related data generated at the screen houses site and will coordinate with peers at the center to ensure appropriate execution of pest control and will integrate sustainable methods.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead a group of employees dedicated IPM best practices at the screen houses sites.

  • Coordinate and track records of pesticides utilization.

  • Train and supervise pesticides handlers and will keep inventory of relevant equipment

  • Calibrate manual or motorized sprayers and will keep appropriate documentation

  • Monitor weather conditions and will make changes as appropriate to comply with best practices

  • Work closely with the rest of the agronomy team as well as with the project team.

  • Support Research Scientist in the development and deployment of new technology to support IPM best practices.

  • Evaluate safety risks related to specialized equipment or activities.

  • Participate in coordination meetings with the population development group as well as the agronomy group.

  • Participate and contribute to Site specific activities oriented to contribute positively to our community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Agronomy, Horticulture, Agriculture, Biological Sciences or a related field or 3-5 years of experience.

  • 1-3 years of experience working with crops

  • Experience with Integrated Pest Management a significant plus!

  • Specialized knowledge and technical skills related to the assigned program area

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effective relationships

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated computer proficiency including use of spreadsheets or database systems

  • Demonstrated organization and problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of various computer software and application tools

  • Ability to supervise a group of employees

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities

  • License to drive in US
