Research Crops Seed Processing Assistant (Job Number: 195259W-01)


Corteva Agriscience™, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont™ has an exciting opportunity for a Research Crops Seed Processing Assistant to join our team at our Waimea, Kauai, HI research station. Our Seed Processing Assistants support managers with the coordination of seed management activities, track and report data, support research seed development and population development projects, and ensures smooth operations. A majority or significant portion of the job involves support requiring specialized knowledge, skills and competencies that are unique to the function or department like seed drying and fumigation processes and procedures.

The duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Operatemachines like seed shellers, counters, treatment, vacuum systems, colorsorters etc.

  • Understandand execute seed sorting process.

  • Supportresearch drying process.

  • Followprotocols for regulated seed management and discard.

  • Understandand execute seed packaging and shipping.

  • Ableto use scanners to read barcodes and collect seed processing data.

  • Ableto operate label printers and to use computer.

  • Ableto follow seed fumigation protocols and procedures.

  • Understandand execute seed treatment process.

  • Supportmanagement in the adaptation and deployment of new technologies.

  • Supportmanagement with the prevention of safety incidents by proactive reportingof near misses and active participation in safety observations.

  • Havean active participation within the daily team meeting

  • Participateand contribute to Site specific activities oriented to contributepositively to our community

  • Supportother areas like general inventory, agronomy or crop management.

  • Supportmanagement in decision making about how to improve processes to increaseefficiency.


Thefollowing are required:

  • High SchoolDiploma or GED

  • 2 years of workhistory and experience in any field

  • Stronginterpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effectiverelationships

  • Strong oral andwritten communication skills

  • Ability andwillingness to work outdoors

  • Ability andwillingness to lift at least 30 pounds with or without reasonableaccommodation

  • Demonstratedorganization and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to managemultiple tasks and competing priorities

  • Ability andwillingness to work overtime, extended hours, weekends, holidays, etc. duringpeak periods

  • Ability andwillingness to drive fork lift or learn how to

Thefollowing are preferred:

  • Agriculture,warehousing, production, manufacturing or related work experience

  • Valid driver’slicense

  • Knowledge of orability to learn how to use barcode systems

  • Demonstratedcomputer proficiency including use of spreadsheets or database systems
