DuPont is seeking an ElectricalEngineer for our Washington Works Plant in Parkersburg, West Virginia.

The Manufacturing Technology Electrical Engineer will provide day-to-day technical expertise and technical support for the chemical processes at the site. The successful candidate will join an integrated team, including: process chemical and mechanical engineers. The responsibilities of the position include: solution of process problems, identifying and implementing process improvements, and leading teams and/or projects for longer-term improvements

TheElectrical Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Providing electrical engineering expertise for thechemical processes at the site.

  • Troubleshooting process issues & providingtechnical support to the operations team as required.

  • Leading or participating on teams to upgrade processesand products ranging from incremental improvements to major technologychanges.

  • Executing the change management processes to executeimprovements in equipment and control (Process change requests, Change ofdesign, etc.).

  • The job scope includes identifying, developing thescope, and leading minor and medium Capital improvement projects, as wellas leading the electrical part on major capital improvement projects.

  • Maintain and provide technicalsupport electrical distribution system, including AC and DC power, process andutility equipment.

  • Develop and manage reliabilityprogram for electrical equipment, including specific work and preventativemaintenance procedures

  • Distributed Control System (DCS) andProgrammable Logic Controller (PLC) configuration and programming,troubleshooting, and capital project implementation.

  • Manage process Alarm Systems and interlocks

  • Support, develop and implementstrategies for improving instrumentation and process monitoring equipment.


  • B.S. or higher degree in Electrical Engineering fromABET-accredited university.Advanced degree holders are encouraged to apply.

  • Minimum 3.0 overall GPA.

  • Minimum of 6 months of applicable CoOp or Intern experience;or demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively as an electrical engineerin an industrial or manufacturing environment. Higher experience levels encouragedto apply; job level and compensation offered to be commensurate uponexperience.


  • Fundamental knowledge of electrical and instrumentationequipment selection/specification, calibration and troubleshooting.

  • Working knowledge of DCS, PLC or single loopcontrollers. Preferably knowledge of ABB DCS & Modicon PLC equipment.

  • Thorough knowledge of E&I drawings includingelectrical schematics, logic diagrams and P&I diagrams.

  • Working knowledge of HMI interface programming &modification.

  • Knowledge of Electrical Power Distribution systems.

  • Understanding of Safety and process interlocks, PFDcalculation,

  • Knowledge of electrical standards and Process SafetyManagement (PSM) process and value for safety rules and procedures.

  • Knowledge of Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA),Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Six Sigma or other reliabilityanalytical tools.


  • Good written, oral communication and interpersonalskills.

  • Must be self-motivated and have great attention todetail.

  • Strong trouble shooting skills.

  • Ability to learn and work independently.

  • Ability to work with others involved in a variety offunctions including operators, mechanics, engineers of variousdisciplines, management, and other leaders.
