DuPont currently has an opening for a Reliability Technician in our Washington Works Plant located in Washington, WV. The Reliability Technician provides technical support for equipment inspection and welding along with extensive knowledge of NDE techniques. The successful candidate will be able to assess equipment condition, perform weld inspections, assist in the design of equipment.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:

Inspect Equipment to National Standards including:

  • Identify damage mechanisms and appropriate inspection techniques

  • Correctly classify inspection findings as indications or defects in accordance with national standards

  • Make appropriate recommendations from inspection findings

  • Prepare written inspection reports that clearly and accurately communicate equipment condition

  • Provide technical support to the business units and assist in developing procedures and techniques for more efficiency.

Specify Repair Scopes and Techniques including:

  • Determine the extent of equipment damage that requires repair

  • Provide directions for any welding requirements such as: filler metal, process, post- weld heat treatment, etc.

  • Review repair documentation such as: material certifications, Welding Procedure Specifications, Procedure Qualification Records, Welder Performance Qualifications, repair drawings, welding travelers, heat treatment records, nondestructive examination reports, etc.

  • Inspect repair actions for compliance to national standards and repair scopes

  • Provide technical support to the business units and assist in developing procedures and techniques for more efficiency.

Certifications/Proficiencies Needed:

The successful candidate will be required to learn, pass, & maintain nationally recognized certifications as follows:

  • American Society for Nondestructive Testing Visual Testing Level II or American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector

  • American Society for Nondestructive Testing Liquid Penetrant Testing Level II

  • American Society for Nondestructive Testing Ultrasonic Thickness Testing Level II

  • American Society for Nondestructive Testing Eddy Current Level II

  • EPRI IRIS inspection method.

  • API 510, API 570 and API 653 certifications

The successful candidate will be required to learn and be proficient on the following items:

  • ASME Section II

  • ASME B31.3

  • American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1 and AWS D9.1

  • Ultrapipe

  • Portable He testing

  • Remote Visual Inspection

  • Positive Metal Identification

  • Hardness Testing

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma/GED equivalent

  • Self motivator / self starter who is eager to learn and expand knowledge and qualifications

  • Willing and able to work overtime, including holidays, weekends and on short notice call-in if required

  • Pass and maintain with or without corrective lens a near vision acuity Jaeger J2 vision test at 12-17 inches as well as a color perception test

  • Possess basic computer application skills such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Willing and able to lift to 55 lbs.

  • Must be willing and able to: climb, work at heights, in confined spaces and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), i.e. respirator, chemical suit, etc.

  • Experience in high hazard chemical industry or equivalent education as a chemical operator or mechanic with a minimum of 4 years of experience.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Some / all National certifications and proficiencies listed in the certifications/proficiency section of this job description

  • Welding experience

  • Fixed equipment inspection experience

  • Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology degree

  • Radiographic film interpretation

  • Technical writing experience
