Duties/Responsibilities of Patent Agent or Attorney:
U.S. patent drafting
U.S. and foreign patent prosecution
Patent administrative proceedings
To be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) and strongbackground in microbiology, biochemistry, or molecular biology;
Ability to connect scientific details ofresearch projects with patentability considerations;
Minimum 5 years of experience in drafting andprosecuting Biotech (USPTO TC1600) patent applications as aRegistered U.S. Patent Professional;
Experience working with foreign associates toassist and coordinate filing and prosecution of international patentmatters;
Experience developing and implementing IPstrategies, assisting with freedom to-operate analyses, and IP portfolioanalyses;
Drafted and filed at least 10 priority patentapplications on distinct inventions within the subject matters of USPTOTC1600, during the past 3 years;
Ability to work independently and proactivelywith minimal direction;
Strong organizational skills, keen attentionto detail, and ability to prioritize projects;
Superior communication and networking skills;
Positive and collaborative attitude; and
Outstanding writing skills as demonstrated byoriginal writing samples of patent applications, prosecution submissions,and other communications.
The following skill sets are preferred by the Legal function:
Ph.D. in biochemistry, protein sciences,enzymology, microbiology, or other like disciplines;
Post-graduate R&D laboratory experiencefor 2 or more years;
Some law firm experience is a plus;
Familiarity with sequence listings; and
Experience in working with business and technicalteams to develop IP strategies for technical programs.
