Business IT Architect - S&C (Job Number: 194562W-01)


As a member of the Global Safety and Construction IT&P Team, the role is responsible for creating and maintaining a comprehensive IT architecture across all domains – manufacturing, marketing, sales, service, finance, supply chain, and R&D. This role is filled by someone who has a general view of all the areas in which IT has an impact from manufacturing through sell-side customer experiences. This individual is responsible for leveraging technology to enable the organization's future-state business capabilities, which can enable or alter business processes or practices that, in turn, drive the organization's targeted business outcomes.

This individual is responsible for facilitating the construction of business models, which may include business capabilities, functions and processes and organization design, as well as working collaboratively with business leaders, strategists, process owners, and subject matter experts.

This person needs to be fluent with the business and manufacturing processes, challenges, and opportunities as well as the current and future technical solutions. This person will be expected to plan for changes in the landscape (e.g., what’s the next generation shop floor) as well as how best to apply existing capabilities that may not be deployed (e.g., Cloudcraze on SFDC for sell-side storefronts). Fundamentally, this role allows our team to go on offense to create competitive advantage.

This role will be in Wilmington with some travel, potentially a significant amount as DuPont and Dow integrate to create SpecCo.

Scope of Activities

Highlight how digital business initiatives will potentially impact the enterprise's critical financial metrics and economic architectures.

Support business and technology innovation that drives the organization's top and bottom lines.

Detail potential competitive threats from digital enterprises that are generally considered outside of your traditional realm of competition.

Engage key business stakeholders to facilitate both strategy and innovation planning.

Collaborate with stakeholders involved in digital strategy and digital innovation to develop an IT investment roadmap.

Review the organization's digital strategy and how the organization currently approaches digital innovation.

Work with enterprise architects and key organizational stakeholders to define a strategic plan for leveraging integrated business architecture as part of the enterprise architecture.

Participate in enterprise strategy development, including environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value cases and business innovation portfolio development.

Provide strategic consultation to assigned line-of-business (LOB) customers in defining or designing business capabilities, processes, functions and organizational structures, as well as in researching, identifying and internally marketing, selling and enabling technologies based on business and end-user requirements.

Consult with business-facing projects, and maintain knowledge of their progress.

Collaborate with other IT functional areas to remain apprised of project status, and inform LOB customer management of progress. Conversely, keep IT's technology and service managers aware of key LOB customer issues, identifying and resolving potential problems and conflicts.

Additional Requirements:

  • Flexibility to travel – up to 50% as projects and go-lives demand

  • 5-8 years of experience in IT (shop floor, process control, SAP) environment

  • Advanced degree in physical sciences, engineering, or mathematics is a plus

  • Security experience and certification as well as project management certification or equivalent experience are also plusses
