DuPont’s Industrial Biosciences Process Development Facility, located in Wilmington, Delaware has an exciting opening for a Chemical Process Technician .

This position is NOT ELIGIBLE for Visa sponsorship.

The Chemical Process Technician position is responsible for operating: batch distillation, membrane filtration, evaporation, and batch/fed-batch reactor operation at the pilot scale by following the experimental design of several process and chemical engineers.

Responsibilities include setting up an experiment, monitoring/controlling the process via SCADA system, acquiring processing samples for near-line assays, troubleshooting the processes based on the process data and near-line data, and maintaining the unit operation systems and their supporting equipment (vacuum pumps, closed loop boilers, cooling systems, etc.).

The Technician is expected to work in a team environment, staying until a critical process is complete and the operation is in a safe mode, willing to work on a flexible schedule occasionally (including changing shift per business needs). Weekend work is required. Willing to work into the evening when the work requires it.

The successful candidate needs to communicate effectively with co-workers and partners daily, implement safety protocols, and write SOP’s that enable safe operation of facility. This position will be receiving daily direction from the Lead Engineering Technician.

Qualifications

To be qualified for this role, the following is required:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Must have at least two years ofexperience working in a chemical manufacturing operation.

  • Must have experience and/or comfortable in workingwith hazardous materials.

  • Must have experience working ina manufacturing process that required independent decision making.

  • Working knowledge of MicrosoftOffice

  • Mechanically inclined

  • Teamwork skills; ability tointeract effectively with co-workers, line management, and engineers

  • Demonstrate commitment toDuPont's Core Values: Safety & Health, Respect for People,Environmental Stewardship, Highest Ethical Behavior

  • Ability to wear an air-linerespirator and acid suit, work in close quarters, climb stairs and ladderswhile donned in full personal protective equipment

  • Demonstrate ability to handlemultiple assignments independently with broad guidance from leadership

  • Time management of daily andweekly assignments

  • Willing and able to make, lift,and deliver maximal 40lbs of materials to the facility and other labs withor without reasonable accommodations

The following skill sets are preferred by the site:

  • Associates Degree preferred

  • 2+ years or more of relatedexperience in seme-works, pilot scale operations, chemical plant orrefinery production facility

  • Demonstrated troubleshooting capability with process equipment

  • Awareness of data collectionsystems

  • Awareness of chemical processunit operations: pilot and commercial scale

  • Awareness of working withhazardous chemicals and hazardous operations
