Product Stewardship & Regulatory Associate Manager / Senior Manager – Biomaterials

We are currently seeking an outstanding individual to join our Product Stewardship and Regulatory Team.

Locations: Wilmington, DE, preferred location or Palo Alto, CA

Primary function: Food Contact regulatory and product stewardships support for food contact product regulatory approvals and compliance program for DuPont Industrial Biosciences Biomaterials product portfolio, including monomers, polymers and co-products.


  • Prepare and/or oversee compilation of regulatory dossier submissions to North American, EU and other global Food Contact authorities, in conjunction with global product stewardship & regulatory staff and/or external regulatory consultants.

  • Evaluate implications of product and process changes, and advise innovation teams and product management on regulatory implications of options and regulatory paths for product clearance of new IB product lines for the Biomaterials business which interfaces with multiple industries, including Food Contact, Food, Personal Care, Laundry, Textiles, Materials and Pharma, among others.

  • Coordination of global regulatory compliance for products marketed by the Biomaterials business into various industries, in conjunction with regional regulatory staff, product stewardship and product management.

  • Interact with R&D, product managers, marketing team and global business unit leadership.

  • Coordinate cross-regionally with R&D and PS&R resources in the development and registration of new products.

  • Participate in the coordination of global PS&R project prioritization and reporting within the PS&R function and with the Industrial Biosciences Biomaterials business for Biomaterials innovation & approvals coordination.

  • Participate in development of global strategic advocacy support for the Biomaterials business across industries and regions; including meetings with key regulators.

  • Focus on key trade associations across all regions; work with regional team leads on issues key to DuPont IB Biomaterials products/markets to ensure globally aligned positions.

  • Identify and communicate changes in regulations and internal stewardship policies; coordinate global efforts across regions to influence national regulations in areas related to the Biomaterials business through strong advocacy and leadership.

  • Continuously assess the regulatory landscape and changes in DuPont innovation, and what is needed for the Biomaterials business in relation to this; implementation of any needed changes.

  • Translate goals of the company into a strategic plan for the successful candidate’s areas of regulatory responsibility.

  • Responsible for communication of regulatory strategies and policies, and implementation.


General Competencies (minimum years of relevant experience: 3-8):

  • Experience in preparing clear, accurate regulatory submissions/dossiers or similar documents (e.g., technical reports/scientific papers).

  • Successfully impacted product introductions by providing regulatory guidance and/or successfully influenced decisions to implement change.

  • Experienced in interaction with and education of regulatory agencies and trade associations and track record in product clearance/registrations and regulatory advocacy.

  • In depth knowledge and recognized for leadership & innovation in managing food contact and/or chemical inventory regulatory or similar program.

  • Successfully implemented complex/controversial regulatory policies and strategies, and systems to improve data communication.

  • Demonstrated continuous learning mindset and flexibility to expand expertise into new industries and regulatory jurisdictions.

  • Demonstrated forming influence on the department (can be in non-technical/scientific manner) and/or strong impact on the success of future products and processes.

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and people skills, attention to detail, ability to work with & lead teams

  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and coaching skills to drive an employee-driven work culture.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team driven environment.

  • Competency in computer/software tools sufficient for the role and of systems needed to manage regulatory knowledge and submissions. Minimum Education Required:

  • BS/MS in chemistry, materials science, toxicology or allied fields with suitable work experience. PhD preferred.
