QA/QC Inspection & Welding Consultant

The Specialty Products Division QA/QC Inspection & Welding Consultant supports sites regionally in the areas of QA for new equipment fabrication and installation, major equipment repairs, and supplier auditing. This role will be leveraged across the region to support mechanical integrity and quality assurance (MIQA) efforts and is aligned with the corporate PSM, Capital Project, and sourcing objectives and standard practices. The role also supports education on and compliance with the corporate Welding Quality Manual requirements.

Job Scope: Support sites by:

  • Working with project team/site to determine which ordersrequire inspection and the scope of inspection.

  • Ensuring processes are in place for estimating inspectionbudget for project team/site. Ensuring review of equipment specifications forquality requirements prior to order placement.

  • Ensuring participation in Pre-Fabrication meetings.

  • Ensuring inspection plans are in place for each orderand coordinating equipment inspection plans with project team/site.

  • Monitoring or performing inspections specified by theinspection plans to ensure requirements are met and resolution of open items iscompleted. The inspections experiencerequired includes: visual weld inspection, dimensional inspection, witnessingor reviewing of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) and/or testing, reviewing ofMaterial Test Report (MTR) or Certificate of Compliance (COC) and inspectingcoating and preparation for shipment.

  • Investigating identified quality issues and developingeffective corrective actions, whether issues were supplier deficiencies oritems missed in inspection.

  • Providing feedback on fabricator performance and qualitymanagement to appropriate corporate systems.

  • Ensuring processes to identify, and document inInspection Reports, status of fabrication and any questions or open items forresolution. Creating and maintaining regional QA/QC processes andprocedures.

  • Working with regions outside North America to ensurework processes are connected.

  • Having oversight of regional contractor implementationof quality process.

  • Assisting manufacturing sites with installation of majorequipment, and installation QA.

  • Providing support for planning and execution of majorequipment repairs and auditing fabricators/suppliers of equipment, materialsand services, and documenting results.



  • 10+ years experience in Quality Assurance/QualityControl

  • 5+ years of experience in new equipment fabrication(project leadership, fabrication shop or Quality Assurance work

  • Strong working knowledge of ASME Code, NDE and welding

  • API 510 and API 653 certifications required

  • Certified Welding Inspector desired but not required

  • ASNT level II certifications in VT, PT, RT (film)

Additional Job Information:

  • Substantial travel involved, usually 2 to 3 days at a time andsometimes on short notice. Travelmay be global.

  • Position may be located in Wilmington, DE; Houston, TX; or otherNorth America locations with access to air travel.
