The Safety & Construction business is part of the DowDuPont Specialty Products Division and is a global leader in products and solutions that protect what matters – people, structures, and the environment. We are seeking well-qualified scientists to serve as Research Investigators at several company locations within the United States. Candidates with a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering , or related disciplines, who are current graduates or have up to five years of experience in their field, are encouraged to apply.

Job locations may include: Wilmington, DE; Richmond, VA; Buffalo, NY; Edina, MN, and Midland, MI.

PrimaryResponsibilities

Our Research Investigators define, lead, and execute technical programs focused on process technology based on a strong understanding of fundamental engineering principles, so that these processes can be manifested into assets for new products, improved manufacturing, and/or potentially entire technology platforms.

More specifically, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Defining, leading, and executing processresearch and development programs

  • Conducting lab and pilot plant work and/ordirecting the work of one or more R&D technicians

  • Participating in cross-functional teams, representedby various technical and non-technical disciplines

  • Working closely with individuals and teams focusedon application developments

  • Partnering with scientists and other engineersto scale processes to pilot and commercial production

  • Managing intellectual property (IP);understanding relevant IP and competitive landscapes and actively developingnew IP

  • Partnering with external consultants, vendors,and other entities to efficiently execute programs, as needed

  • Writing and communicating technical reports andpresentations

  • Being an active member of the broader technologycommunity within Safety & Construction and DuPont

Knowledge andExperience:

  • Ph.D. in ChemicalEngineering , or related discipline, from an accredited institution

  • Experience at the post-doctoral level will beconsidered as will work experience up to five years beyond graduation/post-doccompletion

  • Diverse and substantial background knowledge inthe areas of reaction engineering, transport phenomena, and polymer processing

  • Solid understanding of chemical engineeringprinciples applied to optimization and scale-up of chemical process unitoperations
